well I had the automatic 928S. it was fast as hell when it ran.. but not really worth it to have it as a beater..

the timing chain... runs through the whole engine... about 8feet long and even very small stretches from the chain.... and you had to change it every 50k miles or so....

the tranny fill reservoir is under the car... between the rear axle.......... and no.. no other way to fill the tranny fluid...

brand new thrmostat control *****....... fell apart about 3 months..... leather sux...... electical system sux too.

think so? my friend who owns a 944 still also owns a 87 T2 and it blows the damn DOORS off the 944 in handling... and i've driven both... his 944 handles well but about the same as my 300zxTT did tho a tad more tossable and he's got basic suspension mods on it...
his RX-7 has similar mods as well....

the RX-7 just owned everything... took turns faster, was more agile, better balanced in turns, easy to control in oversteer, more responsive, etc, etc, etc

thats real nice that you quote out of a magazine... especially one that had some SERIOUS problems back in the 80s... let me know when you actually drive a rx-7 with basic boltons (makes a huge diff on the car too btw) (i wont even start to compare it against a 93-95, because that'd be silly )

Thanks, I'll check it out.

You guys are going to croak, but I've also been looking at 1995 XJ6's (non-Vanden Plas). They are amazingly inexpensive for such a beautiful vehicle. Reliability is also rated very high, and the I-6 is quite powerful. I called a guy today (autotrader), but no return call. Also looking for a good 1994 300ZX NA, 5sp. I'm all over the board here. Like I said, I like cars too much. Everything interests me in one way or another.

I was lucky enough to be able to drive an '85 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Limousine over the weekend. It was the first one produced of about 12 total. Quite a machine.

LexRX, those year Jags when they are clean look SWEEEEEET

and bone stock 300zxs are great reliable cars (dont ever mod a TT tho, you'll break it somehow)

want a T-top or a hardtop? hardtops are pretty rare but they are pretty light (for a Z anyway)

I would take a hard top or a T-top but would prefer a T-top. I would be looking at a higher mileage Z, so NA would be more reliable and I wouldn't plan on adding a turbo afterwards.

Good enough. I don't care to debate it. I just haven't seen an rx ever be claimed as the best handling car, yet i have seen over 8 magazines say that about the Porsche. I'm just going with the world on this one. Seems like everyone has made their opinion and even thrown a little skidpad fact into it when judging the Porsche, i haven't seen the same writeups on the RX anywhere, that's all. Heck, we could argue about driving experience all day, i was just going on book facts. I really am not very interested in it all.

DGOT20s, I checked out European Car magazine. They did have a 951 project car, but only a short article on it.

Ok Porsche aficionado, I'd appricate a bit more of your input. This 951 bug has bit me, and isn't so strong until I start looking at them again, especially in black!

I am looking at three 5sp black 951's; according to owner's ad:
(1) '86 excellent condition inside and out, no service records from previous owner who was a Delta pilot, 144k miles, $6995
(2) '86 all service records up to date, new tires, exellent condition, 116k miles, $6900
(3) '87 New timing belt, excellent exterior, good interior, runs very good, 135k miles, $7000 FIRM.

#3 is about three hours away, but from the picture the body is in exceptional shape. What do you think about the prices and the mileage. The mileage is the main thing that worries me even though there are service recoreds and the car still runs good - it's the turbos that worry me.
