probably still safer than the Zupra going 120mph on neighborhood streets.

No it didn't.

Maybe Tesla added a hidden mode: Need For Speed Hot Pursuit

Yes it did, and they explained it well in the article:
Quote:
Vehicles that were ahead of the Tesla moved out of the way, but the Tesla began accelerating, Turnbull said.
"Nobody appeared to be in the car, but the vehicle sped up because the line was clear in front."
The responding officer obtained radar readings on the vehicle, confirming that it had automatically accelerated to exactly 150 km/h.

The idiot driver set the max speed to 150km/h and took a nap. The Tesla will keep going with traffic as long as the speed is lower than 150km/h. If there is no traffic, it stays in the lane at 150km/h. Must be an older autopilot generation or he rigged the steering wheel to detect hands on it...either way, user error.

Some people are taping weights to the steering wheel to defeat the hands requirement. Not the smartest idea.

This is purposely worded to imply the Tesla automatically sped away because the cop turned on his lights.

For that matter, too many drivers also fall asleep at the wheel of cars
without autopilots.

And way more catastrophic without autopilot.

Yeah, that sentence is very misleading LOL. the radar-guided adaptive cruise caused the car to accelerate because the lane ahead of it was clear.

I could definitely see how that would be inferred. The actual quote in full is:
Quote:
After the responding officer activated emergency lights on their vehicle, the Tesla automatically began to accelerate, Turnbull said, even as those vehicles that were ahead of the Tesla on the highway moved out of the way.
It would appear that the author isn't familiar with radar cruise control, or purposely wrote the article that way.

So did the Tesla get probation or is it doing community service picking up garbage?

Tesla's autopilot can't pick up garbage yet. It can only go straight or change lanes depending on the year.
