RX450H price dilemma
Hello guys,
I am currently shopping for a 4th gen RX450H. I am from Canada, so prices are of course higher than your typical US ones.
My budget is rather limited. The only one I can currently afford is a 2016 RX450H Executive Plus with 110 000 miles (90% highway). If I don't purchase this one, I'll have to look at cheaper alternatives like the Hybrid Highlander. It wasn't maintained by Lexus specifically, but the Carproof shows all maintenance records following the Lexus recommendations.
I went thru all possible threads on the forum regarding reliability and I'm not too concerned on this one. I expect the car to run another 100 000 trouble-free miles.
The big question is the price.
- The MSRP in 2016 was 78 000$ CAD
- The guy is asking 34 000$ CAD
- The next cheapest 2016 RX450H in the province is 42 500$ CAD, with considerably lower mileage (50 000 miles). Being patient, I could probably find one for about 40 000$ CAD.
- As a comparison, a 3rd gen 2015 RX450H is 28 to 30 000$ CAD
- The car is mint. Not a single scratch. Like new interior.
Would you do it?
Thanks!

Just as a FYI, in case you don't have the same trims in the US, the Executive Plus is the most equipped one with the Mark Levinson sound system, triple-beam front LED, all Lexus safety options, head-up display, rear seat entertainment system, etc.
I can’t offer any perspective on price, your market is different to ours, but I would personally think twice about a car which has 110k miles on the clock in just four or so years and particularly one which has no Lexus service history. I’d also be wary of claims such as 90% highway as there’s no way to verify those. At a minimum, and particularly as you say you are stretching your budget, I’d suggest you consider getting a pre-purchase inspection ideally by a Lexus dealer or reputable independent Lexus specialist. These cars are reliable, but I’d get this one checked out.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

I thought it would be cheap to import a car from US to Canada....but its damn expensive.... https://www.crossbordershopping.ca/a...ies-taxes-fees
I used $50K USD and the import fees totaled about $15K.
