Front sort of looks Volvo. The rear overhang does not look right, too long. Those are some very ugly wheels.
It’s good that Hyundai is still committed to making a large luxury sedan under the Genesis brand name I will be very interested to find out more details if Genesis has a hybrid option on the way for this model

by making the back big you get better rear head room, a larger trunk, or maybe it's a hatch?

ha, yeah, not wonderful, but there will likely be options.

i would say zero chance of hybrid option, but i expect an ev version, which i also expect will be DOA due to not using a dedicated ev platform, and competition from lucid, mercedes, etc.
Probably not a popular opinion around here, but I absolutely hate the styling of all of the current generation Genesis models. They all look too heavy and old man looking. I thought the first generation G80 and G70 looked nice.
I’m similar to you.
I thought only the hot selling last gen Hyundai Genesis and first gen G80 looked nice.
The rest I thought were poorly styled with poor consumer response.
i'm sure mb is happy for customers to be choosing between an s-class and an eqs.
Depends on whether this dual-product strategy actually gets them more customers or if it'll just cannibalize S-Class sales- and that's assuming the EQS sells in decent numbers (EV battery supply issues still afflict every manufacturer in the foreseeable future).
this new g90 will need to do something very special.
To do what? Even if this thing is as good as Rolls Royce Phantom it'll never outsell an S-Class, nor was it ever intended to. It will however never die so long as the South Korean government continues to exist (see above for its 20 year old Grandpa), because unlike Lexus, Genesis was smart enough to make their flagship vehicle the symbol of their home country.
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if this does kick the S-Class's *** on every objective level. The new generation isn't much of a leap from the last model, mainly because Mercedes tied it down to showcase the EQS.
unless it's something spectacular, i'd says it's DOA in the u.s. i'm afraid to say.
I totally agree with you bit.

The LS may sell poorly, but the G90 tends to do worse.
Hats off to the S Class and the 7 Series.
The 7 Series has literally replaced the LS as the main sales competitor to the S Class.

Last year it sold 2K, but that's beside the point. It's actually quite embarrassing that the LS with Lexus's large dealer network is barely outdoing the G90 that has next to no dealer network lol.
The LS has no future because the U.S. is its core market and it's tanking at its core market. Nobody is buying LS's in Japan or other countries in substantial amounts to save it. Same can't be said about the G90 which last year sold 10K units in Korea alone- and I bet that number alone is more than the LS's entire global sales for that year.

Definitely, Genesis has been doing rather well from what I see with all the new GV80s and G80s I see on the road and limited dealer network. And the last gen G90 was a little half-assed with the facelift, but I bet this new upcoming gen will take the role of what the LS used to be. And from the spy shots, it's shape and body style looks proper, upright, and imposing as the LS should've been.
