Ordered a new Encore GX today.
I have had 3 black sedans and I love the color, there is just something about black sedans that looks so nice and elegant especially when they are polished. They aren't as bad as I thought when it comes to visible dirt but during the spring you do see the pollen, the visible swirls/scratches is what bothers me more. I was more OCD with my black GS430, polished it several times a year, tried all kinds of sealants and waxes, washed almost every week but it got old polishing it so much and washing it too much puts more scratches in a soft clear. I put a ceramic coating on my current GS for more protection that seems to repel dirt/water droplets a little better and I am not going to polish it anywhere near what I was doing with my other GS to try to make the ceramic coat and clear coat last as long as possible. I like dark greys too, whites can look good, silvers are okay, never was s fan of blues, tans, golds, greens, yellows, oranges, though I think done right a copper color can look good.
There is a $3250 discount on outgoing Buick Encore GX models from 2020

2020 is a bad year for production for anything. I even dreaded getting 2020 made tires for my car because of the uncertainty and angst everyone involved in the production process has been facing.
Money is not a critical issue with me, but, of course, the more discounts I get, the happier I will be. GM's policy is that ordered vehicles get the discounts in effect on the day of delivery, not the date they were ordered.
That might be the case with a first-year Toyota or Lexus whose reliability can usually be depended on, but, with GM and Ford, they have a reputation for early-production defects, which lessen markedly in the second-year. Of course, there are exceptions...with the Verano, the first-year 2012s actually turned out to be the most reliable ones, though the Verano was mostly an Opel product with some GM touches.
The Explorer and Aviator are perfect examples.
Has nothing to do with it being a first year model.
I agree I would avoid the first year too

It may (?) be, if people are shunning the GX for that reason. Rebates are intended to move slow-selling vehicles. But.........the public sure isn't shunning the similar Trailblazer LOL....it currently sits on dealer lots less time than anything else on the market.
I sure don’t understand the clambering for the Trailblazer. That vehicle will likely never be on any list of mine for any reason. I like the new Buicks, but I’m skeptical of their quality. It’s gone up & down frequently. They seem to have equipped them nicely.
Absolutely. GM has trained its customers to seek/obtain significant discounts so that they feel they've gotten a "deal" and now it's nearly impossible to wean those customers off that juice. So they'll continue to place MSRPs that have no basis in reality or competitive positioning, because they know that they'll mark it off a minimum of 10% with most of them transacting at 20% or more off that sticker price.
