Why Tesla was omitted for this survey
Tesla is only unofficially included in this year's study because it did not grant JD Power permission to contact owners of its vehicles in 15 states. Still, the study includes results from surveys completed in the remaining 35 states, and if Tesla had been officially included it would have led all brands with a projected score of 896. Conversely, Tesla would have sat at the very bottom in JD Power's IQS rankings. That means Tesla owners report more problems with their vehicles than owners of any other brand, yet they still love and connect with them on an emotional level.
Personally I don't agree with those criticisms, but, nevertheless, much of the recent criticism of Audi products centers around the conservative styling........which, in general, doesn't change much from one generation to the next.

This basically is an infotainment survey, thats what the APEAL study is, how satisfies owners are with performance, execution & layout. So that makes sense, people hate remote touch, touchscreens are back that number will improve. Lots of complaints about Audi's new MMI dual screen infotainment also.

The J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Studyexamines new-vehicle owners’ assessments of their experiences with their new vehicle after 90 days of ownership. The study data provides insight on experiences with design, performance, safety, usability, comfort, perceived quality, and other factors.
APEAL is based on more than 40 vehicle attributes in 10 experience groups:
APEAL is based on more than 40 vehicle attributes in 10 experience groups:
- Walking up to your vehicle
- Setting up and starting your vehicle
- Getting in and out of the vehicle
- Your vehicle’s interior
- Your vehicle’s powertrain
- Your vehicle’s driving feel
- Your vehicle keeping you safe
- Using the infotainment system
- Your vehicle’s driving comfort
- Fuel usage
People who buy Audis obviously aren't upset with their looks, and the APEAL study doesn't seem to measure that anyway. No idea what would make people be more satisfied with experiencing an Acura or Infiniti over an Audi based on the criteria tested. Even Infiniti's infotainment is a dated, crappier take on the dual-screen layout of newer Audis.
While I can see Porsche being on top for performance, their infotainment is just as confusing to use. Even though it is a touch screen, I was unable to get used to it during my three day trip having rented a Cayenne.
I would think this might explain some of their fall in the Initial Quality Study this year. Porsche Connect could work better also.
