Question EXTREMELY UN-COMMON for Lexus BUT...?

Hi, just wondering... this is extremely uncommon as it applies to Lexus but has anyone ever swapped out their engine (Lexus or OTHER cars)?

Also, did you convert your engine to turbo/charged?

EDIT: OK I'm editing this AFTER several responses already below. If you swap the engine on a 2nd Gen GS300, &/or convert to turbocharged, will all other components, functions, drivetrain, etc, all work the same as before - is this seamless & transparent?

There are several LS1 swaps on the forums in 2GS and SC models, plenty of turbos added to sc300, gs300 and is300 models. A smaller handful of Superchargers added to 400 and 430 motored cars and several supercharged Newer models with rrracing kits. Among other odds and ends

1UZ, 3UZ and 2JZ swaps were once popular in Australia going into older Toyota pickups, and still popular in Russia for all kinds of applications.

With the necessary DIY skills the skys the limit on these things. Look into new imports that satisfy the 25 year import rules as they offer an avenue to Toyota badged lexus models, with high build potential thanks to there overbuilt engines

UZ engine makes a great swap it is compact, light, deal reliable makes decent power and can handle a fair amount of boost. You'll see the 1UZ especially show up in all kinds of projects like this one.

I'm curious what car you think that is. Unless you're arguing it is too heavily modified to be called a Celica?

Every time clicking on that website the pix below are what I see and they're all tagged "...Celica...".

AND... "For Sale: 1977 Celica with a Turbo 1UZ V8". How is THAT a Celica??

That is a 1977 Celica Liftback with a 1UZ swap, JDM tail lights, JDM bumpers, fender flares, looks like the factory louvres and of course many modifications to accommodate the engine/transmission.

Your edit question is better suited to the 2GS forum and you should start by searching the FAQ, threads with turbo in the title or ‘NA-T‘, looking at member p build threads, etc. Two decades of info out there and the answer is it it depends on how much you try to change and what approach/ parts you use. Some things have limits on power you can add and need to be swapped out.

I've always enjoyed the 3UZ swap in the 1IS. I also remember seeing one swap passing California BAR with it too, but cant seem to find the photo of it
