like 15 years ago acura was really on top of their game, the RL is i think one of the more underrated cars to come out in recent history, and the 2nd gen MDX (while ugly compared to the 1st gen) was a proper luxury offering with (at the time) great performance and lots of available options that were removed for the 3rd gen when acura started to become just honda+

also the TL type S which looked great before the arrival of the 'beak' and came with a 6 speed manual and LSD, which was standard when the manual was equipped

Realistically, the closest competitors to the TLX are other tweeners like the CT5, and maybe the Stinger and Q50.
I just disagree. These are RWD models... a different segment.

The 3G TL is one of the best Honda/Acura vehicles ever made IMO. The brand really felt like it had a lot of momentum along with Infiniti at the time. What a difference 15 years makes.

The A4 isn't RWD yet it's one of the benchmarks in the segment with the C-Class/3 Series. Plus the TLX has SH-AWD to compensate for that.

TLX is this weird tweener for being the size and weight of a 5 Series with the interior space of a 3 Series. Like the LS500, it seems to have a bit of an identity crisis and doesn't fit in with either segment. Acura is pushing for it to be an A4/3 Series competitor but performance-wise it lags well behind the rest.

I still see more 3G TLs than 4G. The 3G still looks good and very modern. The Japanese brands have really slid in the last 10 years

No surprise there, the 3G TL had the highest sales of all the TL and TLX. It peaked at almost 80K units in 2005.

2008 TL Type-S in Nighthawk Black Pearl or Kinetic Blue Pearl was the one

Wow, TLX sales tanked last month.

https://acuranews.com/en-US/releases...s-results-2021

The worst January sales in years:

https://carsalesbase.com/us-acura-tlx/

Acurazine members are also saying that they're being sent massive lease incentives and discounts from their local dealerships.

For a brand new car only a few months out, this must be catastrophic for Acura. And yet still no new announcements about the Type S.

Hmmm.... With these impending deals, maybe worth test driving once the V6 AWD model comes out?

Edit: Actually nevermind. That interior makes it DOA for me. Not even going to waste my time. Smh.

What did Acura expect??
You launch a marketing campaign touting performance and then only offer a sluggish 4cyl turbo that is significantly slower than its competitors and less efficient. The car in base trim doesn’t look good either.

Why wait so long for the Type S - typical Acura...

I’m still waiting for non hybrid RWD NSX!

I wonder if the Type S is being delayed because sales are so poor as-is. After all, if the volume model doesn't sell, then the more niche and expensive higher powered variant has an even lesser chance of finding success.

I am as well and I could’ve been a buyer but it’s not going to happen. I may have to look at getting my first P-car.
