Default Lexus Extra Care Coverage

Just bought a CPO RC 350 and thinking of picking up the Lexus Extra care but unsure as to what is covered. For instance, the brochure says "covers the cost of mechanical breakdown of components listed below". For instance, I did not see "parking sensors" as a covered item; which just went bad on my 2015 Tundra but were covered. Has anyone purchased the Extra Care and then found out an item was not covered when you thought it would be covered or did the dealer say since it was not listed "on the components below" then you were SOL? Its going to be a low use third car as I have it insured under "Haggerty" so while I initially thought about getting the coverage now I'm having second thoughts based on reading what is covered and what would be considered a "grey" area coverage item. If its not listed as a coverage item but not excluded what happens in that case?

I should add the car is a 2015 that has 41,000 miles on it and was serviced by Lexus every 6 months. Its in absolute mint condition and was well cared for by the previous owner. The cost of the (4) years is $3,050.

I wouldn’t waste your money. Lexus has the best reliability of all luxury brands.

+1, wouldn't waste the money - if you're concerned about it - put the $3050 in a CD (or savings account).

As best I understood the dealer I thought he told me it was the same as the original bumper to bumper warranty coverage. The more I read the Lexus service agreements its not quite a continuation of the bumper to bumper coverage. My interpretation is that its an "inclusion" type coverage agreement and only those items on the list, while comprehensive, does not cover the same as the original bumper to bumper coverage. That is my interpretation.

Its not a bumper to bumper. You can fix your RX quite a few times for $3000. My 4Runner is 16 years old, it has required approx $3000 in repairs in the entire 16. All out of the extended warranty period even if I had one.

Absolutely avoid throwing your money away like that. Most people with other cars never use the cost of their warranty. And with Lexus, it's not even close. They are bulletproof. Skip 100%.

Hold onto your money and invest it smartly...you will have the money for future repairs on your vehicle.

It's already CPO - no need to get an extra warranty. Like others have said, it should be reliable enough that the warranty won't be worth the money.

Appreciate the advice and help. This is my first Lexus, a RC350 F-Sport, as I had Corvettes for the last 25 years. I obtained a wealth of info over the years on the Vette forum. I actually assumed, wrong, that I was actually purchasing an extension of the Lexus bumper to bumper warranty after the CPO warranty expires in two years. While the Lexus Care is comprehensive in whats included I'll just save the $3,050 since its not a true bumper to bumper coverage. Thanks

Also, make sure you have the CPO checklist and are comfortable that appropriate work was done. There have been occasions where folks have posted that they have had issues with items that should have been replaced in the CPO process.

A Corvette fan myself, principally the older ones, including a new 79 for a few years until I got married and didn't need the bait anymore.

Actually had a 2017 2LT Z51 (before that a 1996 LT4 Conv and prior to that a 1972 T-Top) but sold it just before the C8 pricing was announced. Didn't use the car that much as I purchased it brand new and the traffic in the Tampa Bay area just not enjoyable in the Vette (it was a low use 3rd car). The RC 350 F-Sport is one that I wanted to own and is fine for the traffic conditions around here and also one that I can drive up to the Georgia / NC mountains. While the speed between the two cars are not comparable, the RC 350 F-Sport has all the performance I need and even includes the F-Sport Performance Exhaust system which cost $1,875 in 2015 and was a Lexus installed option. I'm thinking its a pretty rare factory installed option.

Very wise choice. Keep in mind, when your warranty does expire, you can still purchase another warranty at that time. Usually that price is quite aggressive and negotiable. So if by some RARE chance you are having probs with your car (which you won't), you can always make that decision later on.
