I was contemplating switching from lexus to acura since Ive had pretty bad luck with all 3 rx's so far that Ive had. First; i had a 300 that sadly got totaled out in a accident; then; i had another 300 that had the dreaded transmission whine; now my 3rd rx which i have not but will be doing away with is a 2nd gen which i found out yesterday unfortunately has a rod knock in the lower part of the motor. With all this bad luck i wonder; should i switch to Acura or just try another rx?

There are more options than just Lexus and Acura. Try looking at other vehicles that meet your needs and go from there.
And for whatever it's worth, I agree it's essentially bad luck that you have hit. Up to you.
Sounds like you've been buying some older vehicles? When buying older used cars it can be hard to really know if it has been neglected or abused by previous owners. You'll run into that with any brand.

yea they have been older rxs and yea it is hard to say how hard a older vehicle has been driven.

an '07 is 13 years old now, which is pretty old. Things are going to happen. It's not necessarily 'bad luck'. When i had my rx ('99!) it was wonderful for a number of years but around 100k mi. it seemed the engine had become much louder, bits of trim started to fall off, and it was just time to let it go. Could we have kept driving it? Sure. Did we want to? No.
I'm on my fourth MDX (01, 05, 11, 17) and have had no issues on 01, 05, & 17. The 11 had an AC leak from the factory that took 2 attempts to locate, a side mirror actuator replaced, and the power steering pump replaced (whining), all under warranty.
I always get the top model (17 is awd Advance model) and have believed the MDX to be the best all around value out there. Now I would also look hard at the Telluride and Palisade, which are about 10k less than MDX.
If you go used, look at the 17 MDX. It is the fourth year of the third generation, but the first year of a refresh that eliminated the beak grill. There are few changes between the 17 and 20, which is why I am considering buying my 17 at the end of the lease.
