Buick has reduced warranty coverage for 2020 models
Yes, it's possible, but not a whole lot of people are doing it.
Here is some information on it:

My thing with leasing is the enormous down payments.
I'm not handing over $5,000, plus making payments on a car that I don't own. I want the car to feel like mine and a leased car never would for me.
About the warranty, I had to have the whole rear A/C replaced on my Mom's '15 Enclave which was covered, but under this new warranty it wouldn't have been. She wouldn't have been happy shelling out over a grand for that fix if it wasn't covered.

Leasing is a fancy word for renting. All money down does is prepay rent. No point in it.
As for it “not feeling like yours” that’s just a mental thing. My cars definitely feel like they’re mine, I don’t even think about mileage; etc anymore.

have wanted her specifically to do a lease. Or, was the money hers to do with as she pleased? It makes a difference, of course.
Since then, she paid cash for a used RAV4. JT VIN and 2wd. She loves it.
A 2WD RAV-4, at least, gives you FWD, which, all else equal (and I won't get into the all-season vs. winter tire debate again here LOL)
gives you better snow traction than, say, a RWD vehicle. I don't know if her company would have allowed her to spend it on something else....they might

J on the VIN means it was built at a Japanese plant. She bought it from carmax, no haggling

I'll never forget when the host of "Mad Money' was talking about GM stock years ago. Quote- "Anyone that has ever bought a new car from GM has gotten screwed by them". Unquote. Wow. I purchased a new GMC pickup in 2002, was supposed to get $500.00 off on a new vehicle because of a settlement for the lawsuit for the side saddle gas tanks on an older truck I had. They wouldn't give it to me. They said it was too long ago, I had the statement I got in the mail awarding me 1000.00 in my hand. Was reduced to 500.00 because I was into a new window of time for the settlement but I was IN IT. Then when all the tailgate cables rotted away because they were made of steel not stainless, once again, I had the letter from GM saying I would get new stainless cables in my hand, went to the dealer, wouldn't give them to me. Why? A mechanic who was obviously an honest guy told me they just cut me off after a certain number of giving out new cables. Thank you sir. I went to the weasel of a service manager and said, Hey man, I subscribe to the three biggest automobile magazines and I will write letters to the editor for each one of them if you don't give me my cables. Do you think they will print it in their letters to the editor? They even installed them. Ha ha ha. So in wrapping up my too long rant I have to say this is why I will never buy anything GM again. Plus what the Mad Money guy said.

As far as the things you post about, GM is probably no worse than a number of other auto manufacturers....indeed, I'd rather try and deal with them on warranty issues than with FCA, which can be a real mess. I have friends which have also had problems getting Toyota to stand behind the few things that DO go wrong their products.
Now, where GM does fallshort (WAY short, in many instances) is in marketing decisions. I've bought their Buick and Saturn products because there were a number of things I liked about them, but their marketing decisions are made by morons.....and some of their recent ones lead to the longest, widest, and most destructive UAW strike in almost 50 years. This cutback in the Buick warranty is only the latest in a long string of recent moronic actions.
