You are not the first person on Car Chat to bring that idea up....bit has also mentioned it a couple of times. Most of the media and auto-press, though, still are concentrated in the traditional auto shows, in the U.S., particularly Detroit and L.A.

And most of the media and auto press are irrelevant too.

and most shelby models appear to be junk with flash stripes except for a huge engine.

To you and me, maybe they are, but they still have a sizable influence on the design of today's vehicles.

I don't entirely agree with that. The Shelby blue and white has become one of the classic automotive colors, along with British Racing Green, the pink (actually a pinkish-beige) of the Mary Kay Cosmetic vehicles, and the recent Matte-Blacks/Grays. The interior of this truck was not anything to sneer at, either.....it had a number of sharp-looking touches and Cobra/Shelby emblems. And Shelby packages usually also contain chassis/suspension and tire-upgrades to handle the extra power.

With only 150 being produced initially and Ford asking $97k for them not much impact on things. Collectors will probably snap them up.

If Ford themselves wants 97K, and the dealership was asking 106K with several option packages on it (the one I saw didn't have a official sticker on it, but they ran off a copy of the dealer-price), that doesn't sound like much of a markup. Still, you can bet they will probably get every penny of it.
