I sampled a 2020 Escape SEL around the city streets at the D.C. auto show today, which was not a real test-drive, but better than nothing. My first (and basic) impression, though, was that it is a decent compact crossover, but generally ho-hum on sound insulation, comfort, and general refinement, though my sample had the three-cylinder turbo Ecoboost.

Can't hold a candle to its upmarket Lincoln Corsair stablemate (which is done the same general platform)...but the Lincoln has a different rear suspension, and loaded versions cost almost twice what this Escape SEL did.
