Lexus should of done a V12 It would of been the pinnacle of their brand at the time. They would be living of the legacy today.

Possibly, but that might (?) be stretching it. VW tried marketing a 12-cylinder (W-12) engine, in the American market Phaeton, that was a complete sales-flop. One can argue that VW, unlike Lexus, is not a luxury-brand nameplate, but the pubic is also not used to seeing Lexus products with an engine like that....which would probably require a well over 100K price tag. Lexus tried the LS600h with a 100K price.....like the Phaeton, it went nowhere.

VW is equal to Toyota. Lexus is supposed to be on par with Audi. Keep in mind Toyota has had a V12 for a long long time. You didn’t know they did.

I do sort of agree, 600h went nowhere

Just because they had a V12 doesnt mean it was appropriate for this sort of car. It was nowhere near as powerful, very old engine.

Of course they would not of used it. Does not mean they could not have done a V12 for their LS and maybe even LX models. Lexus would have an easier time selling high priced models if they would went the V12 route to help with prestige.

I am truly surprised you would against a Lexus V12

And why would you think it is not important?

Because I think the market for any V12 sedan is extremely small, and the market for a super expensive V12 Lexus is even smaller.

IIRC they were floating the idea around the turn of the century, but it never came to be. That would have been the perfect time, as the crazy TT V12s that came from MB weren't far off.

I agree there is no reason for a V12 now. Just give us a new V8.

I guess us LS drivers are right in the middle, with "normal" fuel economy.
What?

If you're looking for somebody to be angry at for pollution, look at manufacturing in China, or the low grade bunker fuels used by cargo ships.

But think of us pickup drivers what you will, if it feeds into your ego trip.

an LS with a V12 would go against the original mission of the LS to "seek the highest expression of prestige without the excesses of fuel consumption and weight, too often found in more traditional luxury automobiles"

as it is the LS has already strayed pretty far from all 3 of those

Bringing out a v12 LS now would be about as wise as bringing out a diesel LS. It would sell like death and hurt the brand (for sheer stupidity).

i doubt we will EVER see a new car with a V12 that hasn’t already been offered with one.

Lexus should of done a V12 in 08 for the redesign. Selling in low volumes would be a good thing for exclusivity. An LX V12 would be good at the time as well. V12s don’t sell well as it is, sales volumes are not the point of a V12 model.

It differs by state. In these parts they move left, pace the center lane and/or take miles to overtake anything. Perhaps because they are generally oblivious to everything around them with their center mirror pointed at their face, a death grip on the wheel and well.... I should stop. Suffice it to say not all of them are OK, much less aware drivers. I log 17k mi a year so I see it daily.

Here in exhibit A; this precious (Prius) moment took about 6 miles to complete!
They Never broke 57mph. Unbelievable!
