Keep running into secret Hyundais testing in my neighborhood. First the new Santa Fe, then the Palisade, then the next Sonata (last month), and now what appears to be an Accent-sized compact. I had a decent time at the red to study what was underneath the sheet. The taillights had many vertical lines. The interior was a hot mess, so I didn't bother with another pic. I'm guessing this is the next Accent, or perhaps a new small sedan.
Are you sure it is a Hyundai product to start with? With all of the ridiculous tape and disguise they put on these testing-mules, sometimes the only way you can tell (assuming they are legit factory wheels) is the brand-logo in the center of the wheel itself.....but, in this picture, it is too far away and too small to be seen clearly.
Well, yes and no. They dropped the Azera from the American market...which was one of their nicest sedans. But that is a subject for other thread, not this one. Back on topic, can you see any signs, from the image, that indicate whether, as Fizzboy suggests, this is the next Accent or not......or even a Hyundai product?
I'll make one comment about it, however.....whatever it is, I like the relatively tall-profile tires. Suspension co-operating, at least it probably won't ride like a Go-Kart.

Could be the Kia. The rear window kind of looks similar to the photo. I've only seen Hyundai's cross my route thus far, but I'm sure Kia can be thrown into the mix.
If the moderators want to change the thread title to Kia Rio, go for it.
I think it has to do with Marshall's 'War on Sedans' thread (I believe you Bit, changed the title already), which Jill found amusing
If not a "war on sedans" per se, then some manufacturers are obviously trying to get people out of sedans and into higher-profit SUVs. If Hyundai and Kia buck that trend, then more power to them. Hyundai, though, has already cancelled the Azera, and the Kia Cadenza seems to be hanging on by a thread.

I think the closest is their testing facility in the Mojave Desert. I'm about halfway between there and L.A. proper. The route I've seen them use involves the southbound 14 Freeway, exit Via Princessa, up to Whites Canyon, to Plum Canyon, to Copper Hill, to San Francisquito Canyon, to the 138 east, and back to the Mojave facility. It's one giant loop that includes freeway traffic, city streets, canyon roads, and hot desert environs.

Azera was a nice car, but no one bought it. Why keep investing in it here? K900 isn't exactly lighting up the showroom floor either. If they want to bring it back, they could with a few revisions to meet US regulations. The Azera/Cadenza are mainstays in the KDM market. There are plenty of Hyundai Corp sedans to choose from whether from Kia, Hyundai, or Genesis. Sedans like the Civic/Accord, Corolla/Camry are not going anywhere, they own that market. Chevy and Ford have always struggled against them. If at some point they need more sedans again, they'll simply reach out to their international divisions. It's really not that big of a deal.
