Was it just the nx charging pad that was slow? I honestly haven’t paid attention to charging speed in mine (g90) but it seems fine.
I don't know. I had a Samsung S5 at the time(4 yrs ago) It was probably a combination of both. Wireless charging then was just slow. You had to leave it on the pad for hours, usually I was out of the car before any substantial charging occurred. I haven't had wireless charging for 3 years and don't miss it. The One plus 3T I have since then has the industry leading DASH charge. The new One Plus 7 pro has what they call Warp charge which is even faster. All I need is 1/2 hour of charge and I'm set for the day.

It was universal for Lexus. The LX one was the same issue as the NX, but the feature was kept probably because of its hierarchy in the Lexus line. It’s a technology Lexus needs to address to be more functional.
With Android Auto and non-BMW Apple CarPlay requiring a wired connection to function, I don't really see the advantage. Like Steve, I have wireless chargers at home and on my desk at the office, so during a typical work day it's very unusual for my phone to drop below 80% charge. So charging it during my commute isn't even a consideration.
If it were an option on a car I was ordering, I would probably get it. But its availability or absence would have absolutely zero bearing on my decision to purchase a vehicle.
I don't see how these metal tabs interfere with water resistance. Blackberries had mechanical buttons and removable batteries, so of course they weren't water resistant, it had nothing to do with the contact tabs.
Good tech for the time, but not practical now. Most people use a phone case--it was much rarer then--and no one will want to take their phone out of the case to make sure that the contact points are touching.

Good point. Only BMW has the wireless car play. Seems to me Toyota added Car Play reluctantly while they always intended their cars to have a wireless charger. Non US and Canada Toyota models do not have car play. Dumb on Toyota.

Apple car play is very redundant and useless in BMWs - their iDrive system is much superior.

Not when the traffic subscription runs out after 3 years. I don't usually need nav to know where I'm going; I need it to know traffic. I'd much rather have it projected onto my nav screen then mounted on my dash with my phone.
My F30 is from before CarPlay was offered. But I still wouldn't pay for it just to get Waze and Google Maps mirrored to the car's infotainment.

good post...I can mirror my phone screen onto my radio display with a cable - but get no charging.
BOT - I've tried wireless charging multiple times and it was never as fast as the OEM fast charger - also, I hear its harder on the phone's battery.
I still run a Galaxy S6 (glass back). Bought several hockey puck wireless chargers and I love them. One by the bed, one at my desk. I wish my RX had a wireless holder, but I use an Anker holder tht fits into the CD slot. Wife's phone has a thick case but she can still get recharged on her hockey puck station.
The third-party hockey pucks are slower than wired, but the Samsung one that sits at a 45 degree angle charges very fast. No need to plug in again, though from what I'm reading here one needs to do so in order to use Android Auto.
Have wireless charging in our cars and it's very convenient, just throw the down on the pad and go. It doesn't "fast charge" my Pixel 3, but it's still good.
