2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS is all-new

Look at Jill - she thinks there won't be another LS, and that the 5LS will be replaced by some form of SUV.
So the GLS is gradually phasing out the S Class?

When I went to a MB event maybe 2003? They had a new CLS on display. The cars we drove were the SLs. I actually thought the CLS was replacing the S class and thought, it does look modern, but I wouldn't think all S class buyers would like that kind of look...of course I was wrong. Someone at work has a new CLS AMG and I have to admit it looks sick. He parked next to me and as I walked up I was thinking who's this fool in the office acting all that with their new fake C coupe? As I was putting my laptop bag in my trunk and saw the badge and that it was 4 doors, I thought, DOH!!

not true at all.
the LX in general don't have very good lease deals. by comparison the GLS has better MF in general especially on the 450. the GLS63 is the only one with painful MF most of the time.
to make my case, when we leased our 2016 GL550, we considered the LX570 as well (apple to apple, both are V8). both zero down, LX570 was about 1300 a month, and the GL550 was 1200. granted we got a decent deal on the GL550, its msrp was also 5k more than the LX570.

The MB and BMW are finally on equal footing in terms of design. (I know the X7 didnt exist but the X5 design language).
Cant go wrong.

The BMW will likely be prettier on the inside with more christmas lights on the dash. My friend's 2019 X5 had pretty xmas lights too bad they didnt like it and went to get it fixed.

Must be just me, I find the 2nd gen X5 to be the nicest looking--that with the 315's in the rear. I find the current one to be ugly, the proportions are wrong, and I get that they're not really for cargo, as one has an active sporting lifestyle when one drives a SAV! But still ugly. One passed me on a double yellow yesterday, that's the other thing about their drivers, some fit the stereotype, most don't. I think MB wins in the SUV crossover category over BMW.

I wonder why Camry sedan starts at 24k, with tall heavy SUV Highlander at 31.5k, while S Class starts at 91k, with tall heavy SUV GLS starting at just 70k???

Like always lately. This car seems to have giant problems in aerodaynamics. It will make the car rather slow and thristy. Not really future oriented technology. I rather see it as the past of automobile, not wanting to die.
