The interior of Lexus' compact SUV is way more than meets the eye.

For the price point, very nice materials and design. Performance and space-wise is where it falls short against the competition but makes up for it in superior fuel economy and with gas prices on the rise, this may be a strong selling point.

My only gripe, and borderline unacceptable, is the full hard plastic rear doors (minus insert and arm rest). This is OK in the CH-R and Corolla hatchback, but not in the UX. A couple hundred $ upcharge (?) on the MSRP would not deter any buyer. The current doors might.

I had a chance to check out the UX when I was picking up my GS. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. I really liked it.

My salesman said they have no problem selling the hybrid version, but the gas version is a bit of a tough sell. With more power, better fuel economy, and AWD, the hybrid version is the better package for not that much more money.

Great interior. Lovely materials. I don't with the idea of keeping it simple as one of the points.

I agree, the interior is very well done in the UX. However, I don't think the washi paper trim was a good move. At least in photos, it appears as a rough surface, like sandpaper or something brittle or deteriorating. While I know it is anything but, it still gives that look. Maybe it looks better in person, I have yet to check it out.

I still have not seen a UX on the road. I would have thought they'd be everywhere by now.
