I'll definitely do that. The floor mats do look pretty rough. I noticed the clips were broken off. Never had a vehicle with this high miles. Any suggestions of what to pay attention to/ look out for?
I was of course thinking all the fluids and filters to start. I like my vehicles to run well, but don't want to put in thousands of dollars. I try and do most of the work myself so that helps a lot on cost. The suspension looks original. Any parts notorious to fail? Or just rebuild the whole suspension? Noticed parts are pretty cheap. Any brands good, or just stick to OEM? After going through the RX, I could tell you exactly what to look out for (actually planning on putting together a post), so hoping some ES owners might have some insight for me.

I did look into Volvo and they were extremely safe. The reliability and cost of parts/ tools is what turned me away from them. But from my research, the XC90 was extremely safe going all the way back to 2003 with safety tech and ratings that you see on new cars. And you can pick those up for under 5k.

The suspension is a very simple macpherson strut setup. I replaced the lower control arms on mine at about 150k miles. At 200k miles now the struts are really soft, but they aren't leaking and they don't bother my aunt. If it were still my car I'd replace them. Dogbone engine mounts are common on that car too, I did mine about 120k miles...its no big deal. Its the mount on the upper front of the engine you can see when looking underneath the engine.

The clips that are missing can be purchased and popped right back into the floor carpeting.
