Future of Subaru...
with majority ownership by Toyota.
One plan that appears to make strong support is a transformation of Subaru as a younger brand to slow down Mazda' success.
Vehicles will be based on Toyota platforms, with limited AWD and turbo models.
This will allow Toyota to offer younger buyers a complete line of cars with a sporty image:
Scion type cars as the base models under Subaru name.
Corolla and Camry platform based compact to mid size models.
Significant numbers of cross over vehicles.
Return of a Celica type model and possibly small trucks and minivans.
Cars will bear little or no charteristics Toyota models.
Scion would be replaced at Toyota dealerships with the re-introduction of Daihatsu to compensate those dealers that don't have a Subaru franchise. Surprisingly, there has been strong interest by retirees in Scion becuase of
it's low price. But styling has prevented sales. Daihatsu will surely appeal to this group of drivers.
just wanted to pass on some info that was sent my way.
Thoughts?

Mazda is giving Toyota some issues down here in Mexico and Subaru despite its presence...really does not have as much spark to it, even though it is priced well.

I think Subaru will play it smart and just combine technologies. They probably won't step on each other's feet when it comes to cars.
Subaru has a niche selling group for AWD cars.
Scion has a niche selling group for younger car buyers/tuners.
Toyota is a general car group.
Lexus is a luxury car group.
I could see Daihatsu being introduced as a Smart competitor.
