Both the Allante and XLR were interesting concepts, but they just didn't fly with the public.

I agree completely. If Buick buyers wanted a Caddy, they'd have already gotten one. Buick buyers are where they are because they want "premium" (prices) not luxury. I would peg many Buick buyers to move to Acura, Lexus or even Toyota if forced.

Allante was a piece of junk, and far inferior to the MB SL it strove to be.

XLR was just way too expensive.

Well, time will tell. But I don't think that Cadillac, in the Great Age of SUVs, would have spent money and resources developing two brand-new sedans for nothing.

I don't agree with that reasoning. When auto companies make decisions to add or drop products, buyers (and potential buyers) are often left with choices that had not planned on before. In fact, that is one of the reasons (among several) why Buick has lasted as long in the U.S. as they have....when Oldsmobile collapsed about 15 years ago, they picked up a lot of the former Olds customers....and perhaps some from Mercury, when Ford dumped that division. A number of former Pontiac and Saturn customers, likewise, gravitated to Chevy.

they're probably targeted for markets outside the u.s. (china).

vy.
I don’t know. I think with the CT6 getting cut, the writing is on the wall for these sedans. Maybe they were too far along to get cut, at least get some money back. And no plant closings which was a big thing last year.

Isnt it interesting that just a couple years ago we thought Caddy was on the right track and Lincoln was hopelessly lost?

Well, that's what new management can do for you. And, actually, Caddy is on the right track today. I looked at most of their products today at the D.C. show, and, while their interiors aren't quite as impressive as Lincoln's, they range from decent to pretty impressive in their own right. Fit and finish has also improved noticeably in the last few years.

I didn’t see anything at the Cadillac area that I thought had a good interior.

At the show, the new CT5 had arguably the best interior of all.....but, as with the CT4, it was locked (pre-production versions), so you had to look at it through tinted glass, which didn't help. The CT5-V version was unlocked and ready for inspection, but it was sport-oriented and lacked some plushness to it. Some of the Caddys had nice interior materials....others were decent but just passable for their price. I'd say none of them really failed, though, except for maybe the base-level CT4., which I wasn't impressed with.

This is not what I'm reading from most outlets. Certainly the XT4 and XT6 reviews have not been very enthusiastic about those vehicles; maybe the CT4/5 will be different. People can claim "media bias" against Caddy if they want, but time will tell.

I respect other outlets as well (particularly Alex Dykes and Consumer Reports)....but, ultimately, I judge a vehicle by my own impression.

The “best interior” at the show or in a Cadillac?

In a Cadillac, maybe but that’s not saying much. At the show? No way.

No, not the best interior at the show. I saw a lot of good interiors there......IMO, hard to pick a so-called "best", though the newer Lincoln SUVs would certainly rank high on the list.
