To borrow some lyrics from a tune, try to be the king but the ACE is back!

Highly unlikely this car is not the ACE of its segment in every way.

Mercedes won’t mess this car up. For me it’s the best in its class, and likely to continue that trend.

It is the best because it is built to a higher price point. With the v8 now coming in at over 6 figures, it has gained a price increase of 6+ thousand in its current iteration.

Wonder if the base engine will ever become the new I6 vs current V6

When the W221 came out Motor Trend said that two generations down the S-Class would be under 4cyl power.

Interested to see the engine lineup.

A 4 cylinder E-class is bad enough, but put 4 pot in an S-Class and I would officially stop being a MB fan.

One thing that surprised me is I went shopping for '14+ S550 brake rotors, to get a feel on what they would run. The "normal" places that sell OE German parts at nice discounts, don't actually carry them, and it looked like they were in the $230+ ballpark. Again these types of vehicles even if I were to purchase 5 y.o., I need to see what is feasible DIY. My gut says under the hood could be not much lol

Again, imho hard to come up with things that are a flop. We're talking about the ACE.

And all joking aside, where I think these vehicles stand out, is in the powertrain area. The Asian mfgs. try, but always fall short here. Look at the mpgs Mercedes is able to achieve, and the HP/Torque, compared to Asian cars in this class.

Hate to burst your bubble but overseas the W222 since 2018 has had the S350 which uses the M264 which is a 2.0T

Let's be real, I will never be in the market for a new S-class Having said that, I have a 12" UConnect Nav tablet screen-thing in my new ram and I love it if for no other reason than being able to ACTUALLY see and understand the directions given by the sat-nav.

I'm aware of that. But I don't care about overseas, gas is $6 a gallon there. It really does make sense to stretch fuel economy out as much as possible there. Here, there is absolutely no reason a 4 cylinder S-Class is needed (or wanted).

The S classes imho have gotten much better fuel economy that the competition for a while. That's where you try to stack an Asian car side by side to it and you get the men v. the boys going on.

Expect low cylinder counts and more electrification. Thats the new Turbo model.

Welp, I've been saying this for a few years now, but at least I got to live part of my life in the "good old days" with cars.

As an enthusiast I can not possibly convey into words how disappointed I am in how cars are becoming.

By the time I'm old it will be Jetson-esque without the flying, gee can't wait.

Yep......Agreed. Things started going downhill in the early 70s, and, even though cars are a lot more reliable today, they have never had the same personality since.

What's happened is that "cars", as we know them, are becoming crossover SUVs.
