2020 RC F Track Edition Will Be Second Most Powerful Lexus Ever
1. You don't have to modify it
2. If you want a Lexus, an Infiniti won't suffice
3. A V8 is a V8
4. The RC F TE will be rare/unique
Simple, if you don't like it then don't buy it
an infiniti won't suffice based on what? Name? The interior is only slightly better in the Lexus than the Q60
An under powered V8
rare = rape on price, if the performance is there to match OK but if not.......
You don't have to but anybody that ops for a performance version of a car is going to modify it. Why get this thing then? It's going to be under powered compared to the competition.

My example stands. If a person only wants a Lexus, well an Infiniti no matter what model is not a Lexus so yes that applies unless you're going to wave your magic wand
First we don't know what the power will be. Secondly, pretty sad that 471 (LC 500) horsepower is considered 'under-powered'
. This is naturally aspirated, competitors use forced induction. A Mustang GT 5.0 puts out 460hp. Is that under-powered? Just enjoy it for what it is.Unique is unique. This is a track car hence Track edition. Not a SpaceX rocket. Like the LFA it will be misunderstood. Oh well.

No need to get offended. To each their own. Just because you don't like the RC F TE, doesn't mean everyone else agrees (argument appears to be 4:1). It may not make sense for you, but surely there is a Lexus fanatic out there that is head over heals for this car. This car is made for Lexus gearheads, the 1's not the 4's.

What good is 471 HP if the car weighs 4400+ pounds? A 471 HP car going 0-60 in 4.5 seconds is not very impressive. So yes that's under powered for a sports car in 2018/2019 it's not the 90s anymore.
Unique is fine but if this is going to be over $100k and can't keep up with the competition NA or FI aside it will be a failure. Especially when you can get an M3 or C63 AMG and blow it's doors off.
Who said I was offended? When it comes to special edition cars and high cost, people will jump brands quick if they feel they can get better at a similar price. When you start talking $80+ grand for a car, it better be above and beyond what is normally offered and be something special.

The power is fine. I don't hear anyone complain about the Mustang GT and its measly 460hp. The problem is the weight of the RC/RC F. Remember the RC F is on a Frankenstein chassis. 4GS/ISC/3IS bits.
Can't keep up in what regard? Straight line? Cornering? There is more to a car than those things, though admittedly important don't make it the end all be all. Things like how it communicates on the road, the noises it makes, things that are subjective that only the driver can appreciate are what truly matter. Not these d**k measuring specs. No manufacturer will ever beat BMW and Mercedes cache. People would be better off just to accept that. Jaguar, Audi, Lexus, Genesis, Infiniti.. Everyone does something different. The LC 500 is by no means perfect but wow does it make the driver feel special getting in and out. The LFA was the same way. F cars like the IS F, RC F, GS F have their own unique-ness, going WOT past 4k rpm and hearing that Yamaha V8 howl like an outboard always puts a smile on my face. If you want fast you won't buy and RC F or BMW or Mercedes. One would buy a GT-R..
We know nothing about the RC F TE. Let it come out first before we make any assumptions.

The gearing on the RCF is not ideal imo and the torque is very low.
Its comparable to the E92 M3 which makes sense since this engine originally debuted in the ISF more than 10 YEARS ago!
E92 M3 was also criticized even back then for being slow because of its low torque.
I highly recommend you take an M3/M4 CompPack and C63AMG for extended test drive. They offer a ton more performance than RCF/GSF for same price. GSF gets put to shame by M550i even forget M5 or E63.
Again there is nothing special about F brand at all, it’s pitiful at this point.
ISF - discontinued
LFA - took 5+ years to sell 500 units
GSF - on its way to be discontinued
RCF - hanging on by a thread
Using a 10year old engine that is not even unique to F models anymore is a complete disrespect to what “F” cars should be.

You do realize you are comparing RCF to a Mustang GT that costs $40k? The Mustang actually produces more torque and is way faster than RCF when paired with the 10speed Auto. Its putting down times of 4.0-4.2 sec consistently and it also weighs within 100-200lbs of the RCF.

M3/M4 are fast, but the maintenance cost/time are a nightmare, and that's just a fact. If you want the car to be problem-free, you have to stay ON top of the schedule and not everyone can do that, which is why they would buy other brands that do not require as much maintenance precision as BMW's do, at least the M cars.

As much as I love a good F bashing, I think you're really just beating the dead horse here. Q60 is definitely more tuner friendly, but it's like buying a R8 instead of the Huracan; you can't afford the real stuff like a GTR, so you buy a poor man's substitute. Also, Q60/Q70 has some of the worst interiors in its class.

You sound like you base your opinions on magazines and hearsay. Modern M3/M4's are very problem free if you do the scheduled maintenance. They are meant to be driven hard, it's how they are made. Sports cars break more often because they take more abuse, if you drive an M3 around town like a Camry chances are it will never have any major issues. 99.9% of people with M cars do not baby them so things will break.

I LOVE the E92 M3. The howl of the 4.0L V8 was something to behold. And yes I still am a big fan of the IS F and subsequent 5.0L spin offs like the RC F and GS F. Sure the new F30 and C63 are more dynamic, but call me old school. Also loved the C63 AMG and it's Howitzer cannon 6.2L
Never driven the CompPack M3/M4 or turbo C63AMG. The F30 M4 I've driven does not appeal to me mostly based on sound. The interior is much improved as is the menacing front. But it sounds like a blender with rocks in it. To each their own. I don't consider the GS F in the same category as the M550i, just two different ways to make a midsize sedan with a different V8.
As for the rest, it's:
BMW and Mercedes will always be tops. If Lexus wanted to make a true competitor to some M and AMG models, well the numbers are there to benchmark. The way I see it, they know F will never have the same cache, hence they're doing it differently. Lexus, Jaguar, Audi, Infiniti, Porsche, Land Rover, Genesis, they all march to the beat of their own drum.
That's subjective. The new Mustang is awesome, but it feels big to me. The RC F feels sharper.
LOL What? Like buying an R8 instead of a Huracan? If you can afford a New Q60 you can afford a Used GT-R. They are two different class of cars. The whole "poor mans substitute" is an idiotic argument. Nobody looks at these cars as poor mans substitute. That's usually what people who can't afford any of them say. "Oh look at that poor guy in an R8." WTF.
The Q70 is not even the same platform, the Q70 is outdated and the Q60 is not and is not the worst in it's class by any means.

And we're talking about new cars. Can you buy a new GTR with 60K? I don't think so. It's like saying hey I can afford a used R8 for 65K, why would I buy a RCF brand new for 65K? You comparing oranges to apples here?
"Scheduled maintenance" was my point. Most people don't have time or desire to keep up with maintenance, which is why high-performance vehicles such as M or AMG cars would incur large expenses because they require more attention compared to a Lexus or Infinit where one does not need to keep up and the cars will still run largely problem-free. Oh really, we're going to compare the driving habits? Even if you don't drive a M3 hard, you still need to change oil more often than a Camry, so don't give me that BS on "BMW would've cost the same for maintenance as a Camry if you don't drive it hard".
Do you even know what poor man's substitute means? You obviously don't or you wouldn't be doing these petty personal attacks. The expression is saying that you buy inferior product because you can't afford the other one, hence the word "substitute". R8 uses the same 5.2L V10 that Huracan uses, but costs WAY less. You get it now? Good.

The Scheduled maintenance argument is pointless considering BMW offers free maintenance for 50K Miles. Besides, If you can't afford the maintenance then you can't afford the car so complaining sounds silly.
my 2 cents these things maybe rare only way to find out is when it launches. I think lexus knows that by putting in the biggest powertrain isnt really gonna yield them dividends, many have come before them in that regard......V-series from caddy which just got chopped. They`re going to keep doing the Lexus way. Appeal to the balanced package with reliability. It may translate to power gains, weight reduction, body trim additions.
If you have spent some time on the F- side of things, you know most owners love the insane new deals, the exclusivity due to low sale numbers, and the ability to have the least amount of time at the dealership outside of scheduled maintenance and recalls. They dont want to talk about being underpowered, overweight, poor residual values. So technically if they meet the former things, Lexus has hit a home run with those already vested. There not really going after being the one true M or AMG overtaker.

Q60 is a luxury coupe that is sporty and can be used as a daily driver.
It has great design outside and interior is good as well imo. The multimedia interface is terrible and ancient with 2 screens and horrible graphics.
I have personal experience with M3s and BMWs overall and there is zero maintenance to do except take it in for free oil change once per year for first 3years. You can also buy extended maintenance plan after that to give you piece of mind.
If you buy a USED M3 that has been TUNED, had downpipes and all kind of mods then thats not BMWs fault.
There are a TON of ppl running tunes without any issues but i sure as hell don’t want to buy their cars......
