Interesting that your perception of Lexus reliability has not changed. Mine would if I were in your shoes, especially if I was first time buyer as yourself, low miles, just imagine if this happened if you did not lease it and owned it outside of warranty. I used my sister as an example as my sister was a first time buyer and she will likely never ever go back to Lexus. My fathers ES350 was flawless, however it was not a very good car.Originally Posted by EXE46

I found the most objectionable thing about the ES to be the body roll. However, I rather enjoy how roomy and quiet it is, so I would rather have it over the NX. 2019's are coming through anyway, so I guess it's moot.Originally Posted by EXE46
I heard the new gen is improved considerably but i am not a fan of large cars so will not accept an ES again. I will gladly take the new UX for a loaner, if there's no IS of course. My advisor only asked me if i wanted a car or SUV last time. The UX while i would never own seems very interesting to me, so hopefully i get that next time.

My Lexus dealer always loaned me thru Enterprise. I've had three loaners, a 2015 Mercedes C300, 2015 Chrysler 300S, and a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu. The Merc was by far the nicest and quite fast, so was the 300S but the build quality seemed very cheap. The Malibu transmission killed itself when i was driving it and it only had 30 something thousand kilometers on it, lol. I wish i was given the chance to drive a newer model Lexus as i've never driven another Lexus other than my 2008 IS250!

Loaners are handled differently by every dealer.
My dealer used to have a variety, they had CTs, ISs, ESs, RXs, NXs, they even had at least one GS and a GX. I had the GS once, never had the GX. Nowadays almost all of them are RXs with a few NXs and ESs thrown in. I prefer the ES or the RX, but the NX is fine.
The only one I ever hated was the CT. Thats a terrible car IMHO. The NX is fine for what it is, a small little crossover. Of course its not as nice inside as a GS.
As for being snobby about what you get...I think thats silly. Whatever Lexus you drive there's a loaner that is the same sort of car. As for the ES being "scary to drive", thats also silly. I roll in there in my LS and I'm perfectly happy to get an ES or an NX or whatever they have. No big deal.
BTW, I have many friends who own BMWs and Mercedes, they're the same way. They get C Class loaners for their S Classes, etc.

Most of the time I got R350, from 2 different dealers here in Dallas, recently, they showed me 2 keys to pick, RX or RXL, my gf love the new RX and looking to buy one.

Suffice to say, i had to drive my car with the ongoing issue to work and wait for the weekend to drive the car to my "preferred dealer". Immediately, upon realizing that my car was reported with the issue 2 days prior and logged in the system. My SA told me Lexus was very concerned that I had taken the car to another place and the issue remained unresolved. SA said they will thoroughly check the car and therefore, he send me my way in the loaner. My preferred dealer is the largest in the country and they're home here in South Florida. They treat you with respect and are genuinely concerned about the customer's welfare. There is a local dealer in my city but i just can't recommend them. Luckily here in South Florida we have many Lexus dealers to choose from.
Car was dropped off on Saturday and was ready for pickup the following Thursday evening which is reasonable. I picked it up Friday morning. My car has the new 4 cylinder turbo, same motor found in the NX, so not the same as your sister's 250 which had the V6. There will always be issues with cars, what matters though is how the issue is handled by the dealer. My incident does not change my perception about Lexus reliability, i still think the brand is very reliable. Also my experience is not the norm since i have not read where any member in the 3IS forum has had the same issue with their 8AR-FTS.
You must be talkin about JM Lexus! That's the only one my family and I go to and mind you we live by Miami beach and it's about a 40-minute drive depending on traffic. I only go there as you're treated with royalty. Also never had an issue with loaners there. When I walk in, they have keys already ready for me to drive off while our cars being worked on!Originally Posted by EXE46
Well, I think the dealer handled this well. I had taken the car to another dealer on my way to work one morning who didn't do anything. They merely told me, my check engine light and limp mode experiences was due to gas cap. Complete BS, waited over two hours for nothing. I knew, the issue was related to fuel injectors and not gas cap since I'm not a car newb. However, SA at that dealer assumes that somebody dressed in formal attire is clueless about engines and thus i left since arguing with them would not have helped my situation.Suffice to say, i had to drive my car with the ongoing issue to work and wait for the weekend to drive the car to my "preferred dealer". This. Price LeBlanc in Baton Rouge only offers RX's, NX's, or ES's. They say people eat up the rear tires on their RWD cars. Lexus of Memphis on the other hand offered most of the RWD cars and the SUVs (minus the high dollar stuff like the GX, LX, LS, LC, F's). Purely up to the dealer what they want to offer.Originally Posted by SW17LS

I've got a relative with a SL 63 and he's only ever offered C300's.

The local BMW dealer is associated with the Honda dealer. Some of the loaners at BMW are Honda Civics. I assume that if you are a new car customer you get a 320i loaner, if you have an older BMW you get the Honda.
I don’t get loaners often but when I have it is mostly RX and ES. I usually get to choose if I get there early and have picked a GS450h once and a CT once. I actually didn’t mnd the CT but really liked the GS. The last time I took my car to the dealer I bought it from to get a goodwill wheel repair they didn’t have any loaners left and my salesman (not the service advisor) pretty much asked what I wanted to take off the new car lot (obviously within reason). I didn’t really care so he gave me the keys to a brand new RC350. I thought that was pretty cool.
