The RX, NX and ES models are the easiest to sell after loaner fleet duty as L/Certified and are also
a no brainer for most people to learn to drive for a day. We used to have LS and LX loaners for those
that bought those as well as RC's and CT's. The logistics of loaning a mismatched car type to someone
with limited time and interest in learning a new (to them) car made the decision to limit the fleet obvious.
In a previous life my Chevrolet store needed to provide a car to a guest while their GEO Spectrum was
in the shop. Middle of a snowstorm, last car Enterprise had available was a RWD Lincoln Town Car!
Guest had only ever had small to midsize FWD cars...ended well, saw it come back in the next afternoon

My service advisor knows "anything but a CT." Having owned and sold a CT for less than a year, I despise them. I usually end up in an IS, NX or the occasional RX and GS. I once got a GS450h... that was a nice one!
The previous dealer my service advisor was at switched to an almost entire fleet of CTs and when they run out of those they use Enterprise to provide the cars. I use this dealer occasionally and have had a Mercedes ML, Audi Q7 and Jeep Grand Cherokee

The thing you have to be careful about with Enterprise, is they require states other than the renting state, to be listed out, if you can drive to said states per the contract (I heard this goes back to the old days when they discouraged vehicles from going one way from one region to another). Then, the person/mgr giving you the car is often too lazy to do that, or tells you don't need that. Don't wait for an accident to insist they do their job!Originally Posted by COOLIS

I was at the Portland Lexus dealer twice in the past two months for warranty work, given an RX the first time and the new extended RXL the second. I actually found the cars to be very alien to me, since I drive a 2010 RX hybrid. Drove okay but didn't care for the dash or exterior styling, but maybe I just needed to get used to it. Hated the front ends. Found it very odd that the engine idled at traffic lights and the transmission kept doing the upshift/downshift thing as the throttle varied, again something the hybrids don't do. I wish they used hybrids as loaners; I think a lot of folks would be impressed.
The third-row seating looked like it would be good only for little kids. Loved the backup lines and the folding side mirrors. HUD was somewhat useful, but why would I want to see the tach?
In both cases I was called early afternoon to inform me they got the jobs done sooner than expected so I never kept the loaners overnight.
I was grateful for the use of loaners, and I have always enjoyed driving different cars, so this was fun.

You guys are spoiled. I only get a selection of ES, RX, and NX. I can specify whether I want an "SUV" or not, but that's it! I asked my service adviser about this. They used to include the IS in the rotation, but apparently leasing costs were too high or some such.

Last Month I had the misfortune of getting a 2018 ES350 UL as a loaner. This car didn't felt like a Lexus, materials look cheap/fake on the interior. Worst was that this car is the worst car i have driven in quite a long time from a driving dynamics perspective. It drove huge and floaty on the highway. With the intense body roll, this car felt scary at any speed in excess of 70MPH. As a result, in the week i had it, the car was driven once and remained parked till i was able to get my car back.
What surprised me the most is the fact that this is Lexus's best seller. No wonder, Lexus has that stigma of being boring cars to drive. We have a new RX and it is above and beyond a better drivers car than this ES350. It's more stable and drivers much smaller than the ES which was very surprising to me considering how tall the RX is, in relation to the ES.
Moving forward, i will accept anything else in Lexus's current line up as a loaner except the ES.

Just ask them to shuttle you to your destination, or just wait for the service to be complete. I don't get the big deal.Originally Posted by EXE46

I heard the new gen is improved considerably but i am not a fan of large cars so will not accept an ES again. I will gladly take the new UX for a loaner, if there's no IS of course. My advisor only asked me if i wanted a car or SUV last time. The UX while i would never own seems very interesting to me, so hopefully i get that next time.

My car was at the dealer for a week for warranty work. Are you upset that I happen to dislike the lousy ES350. A car is an inanimate object, no need to get defensive because my opinion of the car does not align with yoursOriginally Posted by LexsCTJill

If you don't like it, you don't like it, no worries. The ES is a totally different intended experience than of most of the Lexus range.. Interesting that its the ES that is getting you around and not the car you have that needs repairs yet we get picky on the car that is supplied. . What warranty work did you have done?Originally Posted by EXE46

I only drove the ES350 once in the seven days i had it so it really never got me around lol. I used the spouse's RX instead to get me to work that week. My IS had an issue where it was going into limp mode. They ran their diagnostics and replaced spark plugs and fuel injectors. Car has less than 30k miles. I blame the turbo and as such would not recommend this engine.
The car is still fun to drive; however, I can't wait to return it next year and upgrade to the 2019 RC350. This is my first Lexus and first turbo engine. Luckily i leased this car. Will most likely purchased the RC next time though unless Lexus debuts a new ISF.

That is interesting. My sister had a IS250, was stranded half way to her weekend get away once. I have a thread somewhere. Did the diagnostic take a long time? Toyota Japan stuff not always the faster to get repaired depending on what it is. Originally Posted by EXE46

Well, I think the dealer handled this well. I had taken the car to another dealer on my way to work one morning who didn't do anything. They merely told me, my check engine light and limp mode experiences was due to gas cap. Complete BS, waited over two hours for nothing. I knew, the issue was related to fuel injectors and not gas cap since I'm not a car newb. However, SA at that dealer assumes that somebody dressed in formal attire is clueless about engines and thus i left since arguing with them would not have helped my situation.
Suffice to say, i had to drive my car with the ongoing issue to work and wait for the weekend to drive the car to my "preferred dealer". Immediately, upon realizing that my car was reported with the issue 2 days prior and logged in the system. My SA told me Lexus was very concerned that I had taken the car to another place and the issue remained unresolved. SA said they will thoroughly check the car and therefore, he send me my way in the loaner. My preferred dealer is the largest in the country and they're home here in South Florida. They treat you with respect and are genuinely concerned about the customer's welfare. There is a local dealer in my city but i just can't recommend them. Luckily here in South Florida we have many Lexus dealers to choose from.
Car was dropped off on Saturday and was ready for pickup the following Thursday evening which is reasonable. I picked it up Friday morning. My car has the new 4 cylinder turbo, same motor found in the NX, so not the same as your sister's 250 which had the V6. There will always be issues with cars, what matters though is how the issue is handled by the dealer. My incident does not change my perception about Lexus reliability, i still think the brand is very reliable. Also my experience is not the norm since i have not read where any member in the 3IS forum has had the same issue with their 8AR-FTS.
