The GLS has MB Tex as standard too. BMW and MB's faux leather is actually very good.
it's usually not that expensive to get leather, individually or as part of a package. With that said, it's not necessarily a big upgrade until you opt for the premium and extended leather.
I wonder what the BMW folks are saying about it over at the BMW forums. This thing just looks awkward but its nice that the interior and bright and lively instead of the usual dreary black and dark brown.
I'm very curious how a 5300 pound SUV with 335hp can get to 60 in 5.8s.
C&D tested the 333hp, 5,000 lb Q7 3.0T at 5.5 seconds. The Germans tend to under-rate their power output, and as John noted, the Turbo/supercharged engines make a ton of torque down low, which really helps acceleration.

I wish car magazines and companies disclose how they achieve acceleration times. Do they hold the brakes while revving to 3k RPM and then launch? I understand the low end torque and underrated power numbers, but it doesnt seem realistic without a special launch technique. LIke will a normal regular day to day driver be able to achieve that with regular driving and launching from a red light without being douchey.
