While the FrankenCygnet is new, the idea isn't. Several years ago, Aston Martin engineers realized that, with some surgery, the 430-hp 4.7-liter V-8 from the previous-generation V8 Vantage S could be made to fit into the runtish, Toyota-based city car, but the notion was dismissed as too outlandish. When an affluent Aston collector heard of the idea, however, he commissioned the brand’s dream-realizing Q by Aston Martin division to build him a one-off. After a 10-month program, which used two Cygnet body shells that Aston had kept from the original vehicle development, this is the result.
