I wanted to see if the community had better insight to the issue i have. I recently purchased a new RX350 and opted in for additional rust proofing. The rust proofing from my understand is oil based and is now melting due to the recent high temperatures in my area. Is this a common thing to occur or is this a serious problem? My concern is the long term integrity of my vehicle and residue melting onto my drive.
What product was used? Krown? Most spray on coatings will drip at least some for the first few days, if your driveway is concrete then most oils won't do any damage. Dripping due to heat that would make me avoid said product. The only rust proofing product I use now is Fluid Film it won't harm anything and lasts a year+ even if you drive your car all winter.
Never, ever add an additional rust-proofing to any car. These are massive-mark-up, rip-off scams from the dealer. All new cars come with a heavy-duty rust proof coating from the factory, made to withstand harsh environs, like where you live. There is never a need to add more.
Bad oil leaks can be one of the best "free" rust proofing out there. I have seen where restorers are happy a old car had a bad oil leak and oil sprayed all over the suspension and chassis because it meant minimal rust.
I would not pay for extra rust proofing, it is generally considered just a needless markup like extra paint protection but I might consider a DIY or have someone apply something if I lived in a area with lots of salt and it was a rare/expensive car I planned on keeping a long time.

that's not the question - the OP already has the stuff - he's asking a specific question about it from someone with knowledge on the subject.

Easy for you to say in the land where cars never rust. If I lived up north(or in Ontario like the OP), I'd think about aftermarket rustproofing, research it, price it out, see if the dealer is in the ballpark on price.
