Bad Day for the ZR1
It seems not everyone is capable of driving a car with 750hp. Especially not a GM Executive VP!

An ESPN guy was in the 2 seat race car seen scrubbing the tires in front of the Vette.
He said they went off on their first lap (of 2) and as they were reaching the shut down cars, officials ran onto the track to get them to hold up (due to the crash)
Maybe be the guy driving the Vette is the champion of the new mid engine Vette and wanted to show the shortcomings of the current car.

Next time, let Mary Barra drive it.
Even with advanced traction/stability control (assuming that it wasn't turned off) he let that power get the best of him, spun out, and hit a wall, delaying the race for clean-up, although the article doesn't say if there was another pace car waiting in the works. With the salary he makes, though, it probably won't take much out of his bank-account to replace the car.
Also speaks a lot for the crash-safety engineering this car got that he was able to walk away from it and not be seriously hurt or killed. My guess is he's probably going to hand out some raises to the engineers who worked on that.

Reuss is far from an inexperienced pace car driver. In fact, he has driven the pace car on the streets of Belle Isle on multiple occasions. According to an IndyCar official, he has been trained and attained certification to drive high-performance cars such as the Corvette ZR1.
