Yes, it's whole existence is based on coverage, not audio quality. Why you say it's worse in a Lexus is baffling, though.
Did you watch the video? The technology that is intended to improve SXM will not work on a Lexus (maybe an old one, but not new). Hell, Lexus still hasn’t intigrated Android & iPhone into their systems yet - they’re stuck in freak’n dinosaur technology!

Sat radio is what it is. It will never be a source for quality audio, at least OTA. As I've explained to you in other threads - If you want a higher quality SXM experience, go on-line. You can stream it through your phone.
SXM radio is ok but their customer service is below subpar. I’ll use the 90 day free trial that comes with the car, but they’ll never get a dime from me.
I don't see why people are griping so much about SXM. I've had it in both my Verano and Lacrosse, and have been quite pleased both times, with no problems. It could be a little cheaper, I'll admit (and I have the base package at that), but the system itself works fine.

Wow! You don’t listen to high quality audio much do you? SXM is about one notch higher in quality sound than AM. My biggest gripe is it sounds like garbage for the money & my second gripe is the Lexus receivers cut out when near AT&T cell phone towers. Who’s problem is that? I say it’s Lexus’s problem. Cell carriers went to the FCC auction & purchased their frequencies fairly. Lexus decided to rely on old technology that is way too close in frequency to AT&T. My Lexus is the only vehicle I’ve had with SXM issues. I’ve had a Mustang, Acura, Kia, Ram & VW & none of them cut out like the Lexus radio does. Yes, my radio hs been replaced once already in just 19,000 miles. I ***** about this because I expect more from a company that advertises the pursuit of perfection & there are very few choices on FM where I live. Streaming from my phone is not an option, because as soon as I drive more than 40 miles outside of town, my cell coverage is spotty & weak. I may be able to send & receive calls, but data is terrible.

haha remember the days of people putting mp3s onto a USB stick, then into the car, and saying it didn't sound all that great? lol
Ever see The Departed? Matt Damon had some serious hifi. McIntosh, yeah, another brand I'll never own, oh well.
