Yet, there was some important questions that today's press release did not answer about the Ford Focus Active. First, will it have all-wheel drive? Given the Focus RS, adding all-wheel drive to the previous-generation was possible, and one would assume that would be the case with the new one as well. That Ford so obviously left that tidbit out of the press release seems unusual, though it could just be that such off-road-lite hatchbacks in Europe (of which there are several) aren't expected to have AWD. Our complete guess: if the Active really does come to the United States, it'll send power to all four wheels.
If Ford designs a Focus-based crossover, meant to compete with the Subaru Crosstrek, without AWD, they won't deserve to stay in business LOL.

Another frumpy, soft, uninteresting design that will be dated in two years. Window line is saggy and weak. Front is generic, not sporty nor inspiring. Rear brings nothing interesting. Hood is too tall and doesn't line up with the shoulder line. Another missed opportunity to jump ahead and make a sales splash in. This is the danger of designing a car not specific to the U.S.. Also the danger of low talent and lack of vision.

I think youre being too harsh. For a small compact crossover, its extremely nice.

not bad - hopefully it will be available with more power than the Crosstrek.

Perhaps, but you also have to remember that the Crosstrek was designed to be a relatively inexpensive and reliable vehicle to go in snow, not on a drag strip.

not about the dragstrip Mike, try driving 4 adult passengers uphill at 8000 feet on I-70 near denver with 148hp in the Crosstrek (3200 lbs itself)...even with no passengers and that CVT....

I have a beater 2010 Ford Focus with 140hp (@2600 lbs), manual transmission and I was flooring that thing trying to get uphill....it was pretty much unacceptable and possibly unsafe trying to keep up with traffic.

True.....the Rockies, in the summertime, with warmer/thinner air, can really tax a small non-turbo engine. No arguments there.

Agreed. The sedan, wagon look really awkward. Crossover look good, hatch looks ok.

Are these things made in China? If so, I'll pass.
