How often do you get an alignment?
Rough roads?.....Welcome to Ohio. I know the state well....a number of my relatives are there. Do you live up near Lake Erie, in the Northeast? That's where some of the state's worst roads are, from the heavy winter snows, heavy truck traffic, and numerous salt/freeze-thaw cycles.

Northeast Cleveland area. Yeah it’s nearly as bad as Baghdad hear right now.

What's an alignment?
I had the alignment checked on my Miata once. There was nothing wrong w/ it; but he little ol' lady who checked it had to have someone drive it on the machine for him bc, you know, it's a stick and all.
Lived in FL for almost 30, last 10 as a snowbird, so my cars didn't see much bad roads. Here in TN the roads are still way better than what I grew up w/ in PA. An alignment is something that I never seem to need. My Camry went up and down the coast all those years and never had an issue.

Roads are getting worse and worse....City Line Ave. in Phila. was redone dunno maybe 3 yrs. ago. You know the road has to be really bad, to be personally happy that a road was fixed. Now it may be another 7-10 yrs. before they fix it. Things are starting to come undone everywhere. Rt. 22 in NJ on the way to Newark was really bad years ago. I'm talking about being one lane away from thousands of dollars of suspension damage. The best rationale is probably not to have a nice car if the roads around you are really bad, or do what that CR-V owner did the other day, lease and accelerate through potholes and just have some fun.
I went seven years without an alignment on my SC300. I rarely drove it and swapped my suspension setup several different times during that time. I just got it aligned this past December because my steering rack, front control arm bushings, and sway bar links were changed all at once. It left my steering completely crooked with one wheel pointing in a completely different direction from the other front wheel. A friend at work aligned it and it was a ton of work. On top of that the IS300 steering wheels I had put on years ago was on crooked. Now the car drives way better and it's a blast to drive.
I plan to get alignments done more frequently since I can get them done so cheap. I plan to do my LS and ES' soon.

This likely supports what many are feeling/saying. Yesterday we dropped my wife's car off for a rotation, after about 9,000 miles since the first was at about 9,000 (Costco). Today we dropped it off for an alignment, under the lifetime alignment. It's been about 5,900 miles, and we've hit dozens of potholes, and even ran over small curbs going in and out of strip malls.
Before, was all green. After was all green. The only thing they did was the front toes, and the steer ahead went from +0.04, to 0.00.
This was the first time that we went in, and all the before settings were totally green. I guess it's an indication that my wife's suspension is in decent shape. imho the German dealers and the enthusiasts want all the values in the middle, not merely in the green. But I think the rest of the world just wants the values within the range. Would I do lifetime again, probably, because one can break even with not that much difficulty, and one can go in at any time, such as after hitting a pothole, or even having work done. But I would only do it on bread and butter cars....
