Ford integrates Waze navigation app in Sync 3

Using Waze on the infotainment screen also uses Ford's AppLink system, which only works with iOS devices. Android users shouldn't despair though, since Sync 3 also supports Android Auto, which already allows you to use Waze on the car's screen. So now you can pick from Ford's navigation, Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze for your navigation needs.

great move! but with apple carplay and android auto, why does the car natively need waze also?

Well for one, Waze doesn't work with Apple CarPlay. So, if understanding the blurb correctly, getting Waze to work on the screen is specifically for iOS users through Ford AppLink? So it's almost like a workaround for iPhone people that Apple itself won't give them.
