The all-new Arteon is designed to replace the outgoing Volkswagen CC performance sedan. The expected engine is a 2.0L turbo with approx. 268 HP. The SE and SEL will be available in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive and the SEL Premium will be only available in the all-wheel drive drivetrain. The Arteon is designed to encompass both sporty and luxury in one amazing vehicle.
VW Arteon Expected Features
Standard LED lights: headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights
2.0T Engine- 268 hp/258 ft/lbs
AWD available in all- Standard in SEL Premium
2.36” longer than CC but rear seat much larger due to longer wheel base
really? not long after i saw the arteon today i saw an avalon. the avalon didn't make me want to snooze, the front made me want to barf.
Better a response that is negative vs no response at all. Obviously Toyota would of wanted a positive response however the kiss of death would of been a mildly styled (aka boring) Toyota sedan. That said, this VW looks far nicer than the Avalon.

agreed on all points and i don't think the arteon is boring looking at all.

It's no surprise that I love this design because every time I see an A5 sportback on the road I am in awe of the angles and presence. This is a great looking car - I wish you could've gotten a pic of the front. At the very start of this thread, the first pic posted by Hoovey of the yellow one on the track has a different grille design than any of the other pics since that time. Specifically the part below the bottom of the left and right headlights is different and really makes the car look more sporty. Makes me wonder if that's the R line? I don't see that this is available in the US yet - where were the plates from on the one you spotted? The scenery looks like FL but that's def not a FL plate.
Still think Kia is kicking everybody's butt in this segment of premium sedans that cost between 35-45k. Great looks, RWD chassis, a real hot rod motor if you get the twin turbo V6.
Why would I buy a transverse engine 4 cylinder VW for similar $$$$??? VW is a crap brand. Overpriced when new, unreliable in the long term, part prices and service costs are what you pay for something like a BMW, Audi or Benz.

Rumor has it a 409 horsepower VR6 could eventually highlight the model. At least that’s what one of the prototypes claimed to have.
VW still doing the VR6??? I thought they did away with that motor in the early/mid 00's.
I will say that I do admire VW for being different/quirky over the years, stuff like the VR6, Phaeton, Toureg with the high performance V10 diesel. Its just that they can innovate with quirky ideas but can NEVER execute with the quality, ease of service, cheap parts, they never get that part right that actually matters to the owners.
With maybe one exception(pre-emissions era diesel cars) VW has not made cheap to own, cheap to repair, cheap parts, easy to work on, fairly reliable cars since the air cooled Beetle era IMO. All of their water cooled gas engined cars have sucked IMO, they had a good thing going with their diesel cars until they decided to cheat the EPA. I say that because my Aunt has a 1998ish new Beetle diesel/5 speed with 300k miles on it that has been dead nuts reliable and hasn't rusted to pieces in the Ohio winters. That car represents what VW is capable of, 20 years later with not a lot of care, it still has a good coat of paint on it, no visible rust, runs/shifts like a new car, interior has held up pretty great as well with the black vinyl seats.
