Hyundai Motor America Reports October Sales

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Nov. 1, 2017 Hyundai Motor America today reported October sales of Hyundai and Genesis branded vehicles of 53,010 units, a 15 percent decline in comparison with the company’s all-time best October in 2016. Hyundai’s lineup of CUVs continues to drive growth as it sets monthly October sales records for combined CUV sales (up 12 percent), Tucson (up 8 percent) and Santa Fe (up 15 percent). The reduction in fleet sales, down 23 percent from a year ago, is a contributing factor to the overall sales decrease.
HYUNDAI BRAND HIGHLIGHTS“The CUV growth trend for Hyundai continues as customers are able to find the right size, versatility and performance from Tucson and Santa Fe in highly competitive segments,” said John Angevine, director, National Sales, Hyundai Motor America. “With 2 months remaining in the year, our focus is on maintaining retail market share and working closely with our dealers for a strong close to 2017.”

In October, Hyundai displayed its commitment to making things better for its customers with several corporate and product initiatives. Earlier in the month, Hyundai launched its new Shopper Assurance program in Dallas, Houston, Orlando and Miami, offering customers a streamlined and modernized car buying experience. Hyundai also introduced a new Rear Occupant Alert system and showcased the aftermarket potential of its vehicles by unveiling four unique custom-builds at the SEMA Show, while drivers of its Tucson Fuel Cell accumulated more than 3 million zero-emission miles since the vehicle’s launch.

(MAHWAH, NJ) – November 1, 2017 -- Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC today reported October 2017 U.S. sales: Jaguar sales were 2,891 units, a 10 percent decrease from 3,219 units in October 2016; Land Rover sales decreased 1 percent to 5,477 units from 5,532 in October 2016; Jaguar Land Rover October U.S. sales for both brands hit 8,368 units, a 4 percent decrease from 8,751 units in October 2016. Year to date, Jaguar Land Rover is up 11% percent in the United States, building on 2016's record year sales pace.

U.S. BRAND HIGHLIGHTS


Land Rover


For the month of October, Land Rover sales reached 5,477 units, down 1% compared to last year. Year-to-date, Land Rover brand sales, 59,958 in the U.S. are on par with the 2016 record pace of 59,923.

Offering new levels of refinement, elegance and technology to the segment, the Range Rover Velar sold 1,327 units in October, making it the most popular vehicle among Land Rover brand for the month.

The 2017 Land Rover model line-up features six models. The Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque compete within the compact SUV arena, both powered by the 240-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engines. The all-new full-size Discovery features available 7 passenger seating and all-new levels of refinement, passenger technology and driver assistance options. The all new Range Rover Velar mid-size SUV brings a new level of design and technology to the marketplace, starting at $49,9001. Exceptional performance comes from the range of three petrol and diesel powertrains, all matched to a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics. The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport model lines expanded for 2017, each with a new model. Replacing the limited edition HST model in the Range Rover Sport line-up, the Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic features a 380-hp supercharged V6 engine, dynamic body trim appointments and black trim finishes. Jaguar

For the month of October, Jaguar sales were 2,891 units, a 10 percent decrease from 3,219 units in October 2016. Year-to-date, the Jaguar brand has increased 41% percent to 33,119 sales from 23,568 sales year-to-date in 2016.

The award-winning Jaguar F-PACE had another strong month increasing to 1,444 sales, an increase of 16 percent from 1,240 in October 2016. In October, the Jaguar F-PACE was again the top selling vehicle for Jaguar Land Rover in the U.S. as it has been for the past 2 months.

In December Jaguar will have its newest model on sale, the Jaguar E-PACE, a five-seat compact SUV which packs the design and performance of a Jaguar sports car into a practical and connected all-wheel-drive vehicle. The newest member of the Jaguar family of SUVs, the E-PACE follows the brand’s first all-electric SUV, the Jaguar I-PACE Concept5, and the World Car of the Year-winning F-PACE performance SUV. Featuring two four-cylinder Ingenium gasoline engine options producing 246HP and 296HP, each mated to a ZF® 9-speed automatic transmission, the E-PACE goes on sale starting this winter and will be priced from $38,6001.

Jaguar launched 2 new entry luxury vehicles in 2016: the 2017 Jaguar XE compact luxury sedan, starting at $34,9001, and the 2017 Jaguar F-PACE compact luxury SUV, starting at $40,9901. Competitively priced within their respective segments, these 2 new models appeal to an all-new segment of buyers for the brand. My understanding is that the incentive runs through November

I have close to 4900 miles in a bit over a year, no issues, dealer support for service has been very good

Fantastic car

Very comfortable, easy to drive in traffic

Amazingly fast and easy to control

Lacks the angry factor that serves Lambo so well

The nose is very low so if you have to park where there is a more than 7% grade, you will have issues

People stare at it as most folks have never seen one if you like that kind of thing

The Porsche 911 and the Panamera sports sedan stole the show in October: Porsche 911 sales of 691 units were up 55.6 percent compared to last year's monthly total. The Panamera was in the same volume neighborhood with 644 deliveries, a remarkable 118.3 percent increase year-over-year. Macan sales stood at 1,779 units, up 16.3 percent year-to-date.

Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle sales in the U.S. were at 1,658 units, a 26.7 percent increase over October 2016. Year-to-date, CPO sales are up 10 percent with 15,208 deliveries for 2017.

Volvo Reports October Sales

ROCKLEIGH, N.J. (November 1, 2017) - Volvo Car USA, LLC, (VCUSA) reported U.S. sales of 7,008 vehicles for the month of October, a 10.5 percent increase versus October 2016.

The top seller for the month was the XC90 with 2,550 sales, a 7.0 percent increase versus last October.

“For the month of October, XC90, S90 and XC60 were up year-over-year,” said Anders Gustafsson, President and CEO, Volvo Car USA. “Availability on the all-new XC60 is continuing to ramp up while we’re seeing strong consumer demand.”

Later this month, the new XC40 will make its debut at the LA Auto Show, adding a third SUV model to the Volvo range.

The HybridCars.com monthly sales Dashboard is a collaboration of HybridCars.com and Baum & Associates, a Michigan-based market research firm focusing on automotive issues including the hybrid and electric vehicle market.Overall sales for October were strong for the second straight month, as fleet sales and replacement demand from Harvey and Irma led to a strong monthly rate (adjusted for seasonality).

Sales for the remainder of the year are likely to moderate from the level of the last 2 months. All categories (hybrid, plug in, battery electric, and diesel) were up from last October but down from September (in line with the decline in the overall market). Year-to-date, sales for each category is up with the exception of diesels.

October was a relatively slow month for battery electric vehicles, with the Bolt EV hitting an all-time high, while Tesla had a relatively poor month. There are of course significant production problems with the Model 3, and the first month of the quarter is generally a more modest month for the Model S and Model X. The Bolt EV is the category leader this month by a wide margin and has apparently reached its “level,” of approximately 30,000 units a year. Obviously, the Model 3 will likely lead the category in the future, although volume production will apparently not occur until at least the end of the first quarter of 2018. Sales of the Leaf were minimal and will remain so until the new model is available early next year. Production of the Leaf has already been curtailed in order to reduce inventory in preparation for the new model. Sales of the Leaf will increase in the Spring and again late next year when a longer-range model becomes available. Given the delayed launch of the Model 3, the entire increase in year-to-date sales of battery electric vehicles can be accounted for by the Chevy Bolt EV.

Plug in hybrids declined from last month, although they were up from last October. The Prius Prime and Chevy Volt continued to pace the category and the sales of these vehicles are rather steady. Conversely, there appears to be a limit for these products that is unlikely to change much going forward. The two Ford products (C-Max and Fusion Energi) both had relatively modest sales this month. While the Volt is down modestly for the year, the sales of the Prius Prime accounts for all of the increase in the category year-to-date. Volvo’s S90 Plug In has been added this month, joining the XC60 and XC90. Volumes on these products are modest, but illustrate Volvo’s interest in spreading the technology across its product line. The Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima continue to appear and at least for now, we have replaced our estimates with actual sales as reported by the automakers. The same is true for the Chrysler Pacifica, for which automaker-reported numbers have been obtained.

The hybrid category had a good month, with the Prius Liftback falling to third in the category, behind the Ford Fusion and Toyota RAV4. The Fusion has had a very good year and is increasingly finding itself at the top of the category. The RAV4 has enjoyed a run of the last three months above 5,000 monthly. While the Prius Liftback remains the leading player in the category, it is of course down from previous years and is unlikely to regain the higher numbers of years ago. This is of course due to increased product availability of models from a variety of automakers, and perhaps more importantly, the increased marketing of crossovers in hybrid form which are of course sought after by consumers. The Nissan Rogue has been sold in modest numbers for a few months, but sales have not been reported. The product debuts in our report this month, but clearly the volumes are well short of the Toyota RAV4 where the product is a mainstream offering. We expect the Honda CR-V will be launched in hybrid form next year, as it is already available in other markets. Sales for the GMC Sierra mild hybrid have been restated based on additional information obtained from the automaker. This product is offered primarily in California and is essentially a market “test” and volumes are therefore modest. We expect the Chevrolet Silverado will be offered, but sales volumes are not yet available.

The diesel segment showed improvement as the Transit sold well (and led the category) and the recently approved diesel engine continued to reappear in the Ram Pickup (although share is still building and will be for several months). The reappearance of the Ram Pickup will lead to growth in the diesel category although the focus is and will remain on pickups and vans, as opposed to the broader availability across cars and crossovers, which has declined due in large part to the VW scandal.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – November 2, 2017… Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 3.4 percent in October for a total of 23,208 compared to 24,017 vehicles sold in October 2016. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is down 4.2 percent in the U.S. on sales of 243,383 vehicles compared to 254,150 sold in the first ten months of 2016.



Notable vehicle sales in October include the new BMW 5 Series and BMW 4 Series, which both showed strong gains for the 4th straight month, and the BMW X5. The BMW 5 Series increased 132.3 percent to 3,396 vehicles, while the BMW 4 Series increased 11.5 percent to 3,181 vehicles. The BMW X5 increased 9.5 percent to 4,254 vehicles.



“Both the new 5 Series and 4 Series continued to perform well in October, while X5 numbers were bolstered by increased availability in the market,” said Bernhard Kuhnt, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “Electrified vehicles also showed strong momentum last month, with nearly 20% of all 5 Series sold as plug-in hybrids. With the launch of the all-new BMW X3 just days away, we have high anticipation for November.”



MINI Brand Sales
For October, MINI USA reported 3,669 vehicles sold, a decrease of 7.2 percent from the 3,954 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA reported a total of 38,456 vehicles sold, a decrease of 10.3 percent from 42,865 vehicles sold in the first ten months of 2016.



BMW Group Sales
In total, the BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported October sales of 26,877 vehicles, a decrease of 3.9 percent from the 27,971 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, BMW Group sales are down 5.1 percent on sales of 281,839 vehicles in the first ten months of 2017 compared to 297,015 in the same period in 2016.



BMW Group Electrified Vehicle Sales
Sales of BMW Group electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles increased 20.6 percent to 15,595 through October 2017 (YTD), accounting for 5.5 percent of total BMW Group sales in the U.S. Currently, BMW offers six electrified vehicle models in the U.S., including the BMW i3 and BMW i8, as well as the BMW i Performance models: BMW 330e, BMW 530e, BMW 740e and the BMW X5 xDrive 40e. MINI offers the MINI Countryman plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle, which launched in June 2017.


BMW Pre-Owned Vehicles
  • In October, BMW Certified Pre-Owned sold 9,961 vehicles, a decrease of 11.9 percent from October 2016.
  • Total BMW Pre-Owned sold 18,180 vehicles, a decrease of 16.6 percent from October 2016.
  • Total BMW Pre-Owned cars sold year-to-date were 198,869, a 4.4 percent increase from the first ten months of 2016.


MINI Pre-Owned Vehicles
  • In October, MINI Certified Pre-Owned sold 756 vehicles, a decrease of 25.6 percent from October 2016.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sold 2,164 vehicles in October 2017, a decrease of 11.9 percent from October 2016.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales year-to-date were 25,604, a 7.8 percent increase from the first ten months of 2016.

1 new 2012 LFA delivery in October 2017

15 amazing Ford GT deliveries, looks like they are ramping up toward the goal of 20 per month.

87 new NSX deliveries spurred by an incentive of as much as $30k per car to reduce 2017 inventory. The incentive supposedly ends in November so expect another good month then back to tepid. 2018s are expected to be predominantly customer ordered cars.

35 R8 deliveries

245 AMG GT deliveries spells success!
The big jump in AMG GT sales this month though, I think is due mainly to the fact that hundreds of AMG GTR and GTC 's had been stuck in port for months awaiting EPA certification, and they are finally released for delivery to customers/dealers last month.

I watched a Salomondrin video during which he mention his AMG GT R was held up in port over some negotiations on how to get the cars passed for smog testing

Lexus RX sales are just amazing, everthing else is down.
LC 500 must not be selling too well - Lexus is offering $5k rebate in NOV as per my dealer.
I think the new LS may be in big trouble especially with just a V6.

BMW has some crazy incentives in Nov plus new X3s are at dealers so I expect their sales to be better rest of year.

Car sales are still strong due to crazy low rates and 84 month financing.

I have close to 4900 miles in a bit over a year, no issues, dealer support for service has been very good

Very comfortable, easy to drive in traffic

Amazingly fast and easy to control

Lacks the angry factor that serves Lambo so well

The nose is very low so if you have to park where there is a more than 7% grade, you will have issues

People stare at it as most folks have never seen one if you like that kind of thing
thanks! looks pretty positive. i am actually never that much of a fan of lambo, by comparison i am much more into ferrari

need to think hard about this!!!

Too early to tell, that dealer incentive discount is most likely due to holiday push. If you see material discounts during off-season, then you can assume that a model is not selling well and dealers are trying to move the inventory.
