This is pretty exciting news. I can't wait for members here to start test driving and posting feedback. I'm also excited to see it in person- I love that it's a LWB. I went from a 400 to a 430 and now a 460L and I really enjoy having the LWB. Only thing that continues to disappoint me when I see any pics of the 500 are the wheels. I haven't seen a single set I like and I'm not an after-market wheel guy.

The "F" cars are a different matter, but the LC when you experience one and you think about what else you could buy to get a similar experience, its actually cheap.

They're billing it as an increase, they just don't realize the comparable car was the SWB before. The LWB currently starts at nearly $79k
I expect $76k is with destination included. Good to find another confirmation point!

It's definitely legit. I'm watching the press presentation right now pricing from $75k, 70% of deliveries below $80k. will find a way to link it, it's about 45 min long.

oh? Thats intriguing. I guess I thought it was getting a 5.0 because traditionally the "300", "350", "570" etc were all the displacement of the engine, in liters, sans decimal plus a zero. So the SC430 has a 4.3L V8, the ES350 has a 3.5L V6, etc.

By that logic, this car should have a 5.0L V8, or be called the LS350.

Just because the Germans have done it does not mean Japanese companies need to do it with their names. Still it is good news they did not try to price it starting in the mid or upper 80's or 90's which would ensure it fails.
See? This is what got me.

The S560 has a 4.0 L engine. This is just par for the course now as engines get smaller displacement.

Car has a lot of great features, standard AVS, optional air suspension. Engine has a ton of tech, very advanced. 24 inch HUD looks awesome. 28 way adjustable seats with pneumatic movement. Will post this when I'm done watching it.

Just finished it, its long but if you have interest in the car its worth watching.

This short video also shows some stuff about the back seat:

TFL will post more little videos like that, driving impressions embargoed until 9/26.

Roman mentioned fully loaded the car would be ~ $100,000 which is also a deal.

Smart move if true.

That price will move units. They're fighting multiple fronts: SUVs, higher-echelon V8tt Mercedes (etc.) and lower-tier up-and-comers (e.g., Genesis).

This will put this car, even with that engine, back on people's radar imo.

If you watch the video I posted you will see "that engine" is a pretty advanced piece of work. They didn't choose to develop that engine to save money, they would have saved a lot of money just using the 5.0 V8 from the LC.

The V6 doesn't bother me as much anymore. The S Class now comes standard with a V6, everything does now. I've been pricing around and I realized, I wouldnt choose the V8 in anything out there right now, if I got an S Class I would get a S450, I'd get a 740, I'd probably even get the 3.3 in the G90. A8 I would stay with the 6. Even the Range Rover, I drove the V8 actually and it didn't make any impression on me over the V6, in fact in that I would get the diesel. There will be a V8 LS-F at some point I'm sure if people want a V8.

Those other V6s, even with less advertised power, are probably faster than this LS in the real world. That's why I'm not impressed by that engine.

I really think most "real-world" tests will clock this car at well over 5 seconds, maybe a legitimate 5.5 seconds, while that V6 Mercedes, BMW and Audi will handily beat that time, again, in real-world testing. Not manufacturer claimed.

We shall see, but regardless, that's a good price if true.

A 360 hp S450 is going to be faster than a 416 hp LS500? I doubt that.

In any event I've said it before, I couldn't care less about 0-60 times. It's just not that kind of car. My LS460 hardly ever sees over 4,000 RPM.

The LS should be roughly 200lbs lighter as well than the outgoing model it replaces

Well, a V6 BMW 740i with 320 HP clocks in much faster than the LS 460 with 386 HP, legitimately, or at least tested like that across multiple sources.

Lexus just greatly overstates their performance figures. I'm curious how much Lexus overstates this car. Other than the price, which we now know, that's the only other unknown I'm curious about.

The 740 is an I6 not a V6.

And the LS500 is significantly more powerful than the LS460. LS460 is gone, comparing it makes no sense.

Again, I couldn't tell you any of these cars 0-60 times. Not my own, not any of the competitors. I just don't care. You do which is why it makes sense you traded your LS for an S7. I'm not kidding when I tell you I wouldn't even swap my LS for your S7. No interest whatsoever. Different strokes for different folks.

I want a big, comfortable flagship car with smooth effortless power, whether it's a 1/2 second or a full second slower than some other car doesn't bother me at all. I think most buyers in this segment really are this way.
