Thanks......close enough for half a cigar, at least.

I love the dash, and it's flowing swath of luxurious wood. It all looks modern and clean inside, which is where you'll spend the most time.
(Supposedly), on lower-line models, it is not real wood, but IMO a pretty darn good convincing fake, both in look and feel.

Enjoy in good health!
Thanks. Health is generally quite good, though I'm pretty much relegated to swimming now for my daily exercise, as my knees, though not painful at all for simply walking relatively short distances in a normal manner, are best left off of treadmills, running, or overdoing the distance.

Thanks. 5 or 6 years, at least, is what I'm hoping for. That's when I usually get a new vehicle...though we'll wait and see what the market looks like then. At this rate, though, large premium sedans seem to be a dying breed.....victims of the ever-growing SUV craze.

Agreed. I still think that this is what Caddy should have done with the DTS's replacement....instead of essentially making a line of American BMWs. They can keep the CTS (or CT6) for the RWD enthusiasts, and make a Cadillac version of the Lacrosse for the Caddy traditionalists. Yes, a lot of those Caddy traditionalists have blue hair, but they don't have one foot in the grave yet....and certainly not both feet LOL).

Buick does elegant, simple interiors much better than Cadillac.
That's more the case with the larger, American-designed Buicks (Lacrosse, Enclave) than with the others, (Verano, Cascada, Regal, Encore) which are essentially rebadged Opels.

Just don't complain about the hard plastics - as an ES driver, I understand
Yes, the ES uses some thin, hard, brittle plastics on the console, trim, and glove-box lid, but, overall, probably has as good or better fit/finish than the Lacrosse. Lexus wrote the book on fit and finish for mass-produced vehicles.

I generally don't mind hard plastics as long as they hold up and don't break, and aren't in places where I like to rest my arm or elbow.

The LaCrosse is an American ES and that's no bad thing because plenty of drivers still want quiet, large and comfy sedans.
Agreed that the ES350 and Lincoln MKZ are the Lacrosse's closest American-market competitors, with the Chevy Impala, Kia Cadenza, and Toyota Avalon slightly less so. I considered the MKZ and ES before deciding on the Lacrosse.

MM, beautiful car, I love it. Nothing like true comfort and space in a sedan. Looks like it has as much space or more than my s-type has.

I think the boat tail Rivera was a great design.

Thanks. I've probably mentioned this umpteen times, but I had a big used Buick Electra 225 in college (couldn't afford a new one), and never forgot it, although Buick/GM quality tanked just as I left college, and stayed that way for well over 30 years. Only recently has the nameplate (partly wth Opel's help) done well-made cars again.

Which s-type are you referring to? Jaguar? Or a Mercedes S-class? It's certainly not as roomy inside as a Mercedes S-class....especially with the wide console.

True.....but that was right around the time that the quality started going downhill, especially on the large Buicks. The mid-sized Buick Skylarks did not start to cheapen out for a couple of more years....and the compact Apollo and subcompact Skyhawk a couple of more years after that.

Thanks.

When's your lease up? I imagine you will be doing some shopping of your own pretty soon. I know you've looked at Pacificas.

Thanks, Andrew. It's not much of a car compared to the Mercedes AMG products like you drive, but, yes, it's basically the type of car that I like....comfy suspension, soft seats, reasonably nice trim, and (by my standards) still affordable. Sedans like that will soon probably be a dying breed in the U.S.

Congrats! I have a soft spot for Buick (since my first car was a Buick), and from what I can tell this is one of the best cars they have built in a while. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks. It's the most comfortable car I've had since I was in college..but only time will tell if it is reliable.

Yeah, I liked Buicks when I was young, too...especially the big RWD Electra 225 I had in college. Me and my closest friend, who had a big Oldsmobile 88, never bought into that nonsense that a number of our other friends were telling us.....that you had to be 80 or 90 years old to drive one LOL. Nonsense then....nonsense now.

and from what I can tell this is one of the best cars they have built in a while.
As far as reliability goes, the most reliable Buick, to date, has been the Verano, which was essentially a rebadged German-designed Opel Astra with a GM four cylinder drivetrain and Buick Quiet Tuning sound-insulation. The current-generation Lacrosse, being a basically American platform, does not seem quite as solidly-designed as the Verano in the sheet metal and some interior hardware, but outdoes the Verano in rough-road ride-comfort, interior room, engine power (with the V6), and flexibility/smoothness of the new 9-speed transmission.

Congratulations. You waited and waited and tilted back against CL Car Chatters who told you to buy one off the lot. But in the end you got what you wanted and that's always a fine thing. Money and saving of money is good thing, but not when you don't get what you want if you plan on keeping something for a few years.

Thanks. It's not really clear exactly how much I saved (or overspent), because this was an unusual situation, with a lot of different factors. GM cancelled the original 2017 order before the dealership could even finish the paperwork on it and offer me a price....then a $1500 factory rebate went into effect on the remaining 2017s on the lot (mostly on cars with too much equipment on them, or in colors I didn't want). So...I didn't know what actual price on the original order the $1500 would have been taken off to start with. GM's policy is that rebates are calculated, on ordered cars, on the day they are delivered, not ordered. And then....the order was changed to a 2018 Lacrosse before Buick even announced pricing on 2018's. Then, Buick announced pricing.....and abruptly, without previous notice, changed the base drivetrain, dropped the base price $1500 on all trim levels, and made the (formerly standard) V6 a $2500 option on the Preferred-Level trim I wanted, further complicating it. Then Buick implied that, because of poor sales, the Lacrosse, along with some other large GM sedans, would be dropped altogether (giving me somewhat of a scare)...then clarified it to mean 2019 or 2020 models, not the 2018. Then, when my 2018 finally came in, I got a pleasant surprise when they gave me $700-800 more in trade-in than my car was worth KBB...it was in superb condition despite a few small nut-dings from oak trees, and the dealer processing fee turned out to be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than at some other local dealerships. They also discounted the car about $2000 or so off of list...which helped make up for the loss of the $1500 rebate on the 2017s. So, in the end, I honestly don't know how much more (or less) I paid for the 2018 over an equivalent 2017, even with the loss of the factory rebate. And, in the end, I simply don't care.......I got the car I wanted, brand-new, fresh off the assembly-line, with one of the most advanced FWD transmissions on the planet (new to Buick for 2018, though it had been used on some 2017 Chevys), at very close to what I had (personally) budgeted in my original planning. But....to put it bluntly, this whole buying experience (mostly due to Buick's marketing practices, not the dealership) was a mess.....and I'm glad it is now behind me.
