in fairness, he had the car plugged into a regular outlet at home which i think was charging about 2 mi. an hour.
the car certainly has the range to do the trip.

this guy though drove one from palm springs cali to colorado. the amount of time he spends charging and dealing with charging problems is completely ridiculous. him being such an ev fan and nerd though, he likes the challenge. and man can he gab...

Its just not at all the kind of car I would drive from Palm Springs, CA to CO, in fact I would never make that drive, nor do I ever take scenic long roadtrips for fun. But, everytime someone considers an EV, suddenly those long highway trips they never take are the most important consideration lol.
For instance, I was in FL for Hurricane Ian. I considered driving home to DC for a time. I thought to myself "glad I don't have an EV". Well, I've been coming to Disney in FL for 30 years...and never one time have I considered driving home or driving there, until this time. Basing my choice of vehicle around one possible and overwhelmingly unlikely use case makes no sense.

It comes back to freedom, people want to be able to think that they can do a lot of stuff they never do and wont ever do.

wasn't thinking that's a 'typical' trip, only pointing out the charging hassles. he never knows if it's going to work or not, and half the time it doesn't.

But if you charge at home, it always works. 98% of your driving all you have to do is charge it at home while its parked in the garage or driveway.

Thats why if I were buying an EV today and I was going to travel with it, I would only buy a Tesla. Tesla's network is the only one you can really depend on at current.

Teslas are not for everyone. But if it makes sense for your use case, these cars are incredible fun! I will buy another, probably a Model 3 Performance.

there's more to vehicle choices for many than just 'use case', but yeah, teslas are fun appliances.

I happened to be at a mall today with a Lucid store and I’ve only seen two on the road before this in burgundy with a silver roof. Today I was able to check one out and sit in one in person. They had two models there and one was the grand touring but not the performance model.

What a car, the interior was excellent with a nice steering wheel with stalks, nice gauge cluster, infotainment screen, alcantara dash and nice wheels. Also had great range. There were only two things I didn’t love, the trunk and the floor in the backseat was a little high in the grand touring model with the extra batteries. The other model they had had a lower floor. Only other issue is the one I would get is a good bit more expensive.
