Default Long-term rental or lease? Need input!

My cousin is moving to Dallas in 3 weeks to live with my ailing mother for an extended period of time and she will need a car. I was researching month-long rental rates and coming up with over $1,500 per month for a mid-size car. Has anyone leased a car for an extended period of time and found it to be much less expensive than a normal lease? If so, who did you rent with?

Also, if it is that high, I might at well just lease. Funny, others in the forum said I wouldn't be the target market for the Camry, Mazda6, Malibu, Accord, etc., but I guess now I am because I am looking for something reasonable and reliable for her. Situations can change from day to day.

Any thoughts or shared experiences would be most welcome.

Our leases are up in January and June of 2017, and believe me... the last thing I want to do is try to pick 3 replacement cars.

6, 12, 24, 36 months?

I remember the time I did a rent-a-wreck when I was in a similar situation. But back then, leasing was not even on the table.

I would say 24-36 months. Hard to tell.

Enterprise, Stay away from airport locations.

I was renting a Cruze (Nicely appointed, I might add) for approx $500/mo before I bought my 4LS. Make sure your CC has PRIMARY car rental insurance.

Have you considered any of those lease swapping sites? I have no personal experiences with them, but that might be an option

That sounds like a lease is your best option, though you lose flexibility in your end date.
