The RC must have been influenced somewhat by the LF-LC Concept, as critical design decision making was said to have been made in the 2011-early 2012 period for the XC10 design programme. The LF-LC was already designed by 2011, so design management might have spread that over to the RC development programme.

Some aspects of the RC are uncannily similar to the LF-LC concept. The RC (XC10) design was finalised by the middle of 2012, just under a year after LF-LC development heated up. The production LC design, was likely final by well over 1 year ago.

Thank you zema. Did read this over there as well and have gotten the vague impression that the LC would debut before the next LS did. Looks like my suggestions that the LC could also debut the new RWD modular platform was somewhat correct. LS launch seems to be floating between late 2016 and sometime in 2017. Much of the text there is referring to the LS.

How do you know if this has possibly been in development a very long time already? TNGA has yet to debut in showroom form for FWD. Besides that, Toyota has already practiced this with the RWD "N" platform, FWD "K" and "MC" platforms. The "New MC" and "New N" platforms are essentially stop-gaps between the original MC and N platforms and their fully modular replacements.

Mercedes-Benz barely introduced their MRA (W205 C-Class), MHA (GLE Coupe), and MFA modular platforms recently. The MSA modular platform has yet to be launched. The new RWD 35up platform from BMW was just introduced today and the BMW-Toyota modular platform will appear in the next 6-Series and Z5.

Word from Across the World About the Lexus LC

I have good news and bad news. I'll start with the good news first: We have an update on the upcoming Lexus LC. The bad news is that the update is in Chinese and I don't know the language.

Sounds far fetched.

But it would be interesting to see something so spectacular catch the automotive realm by surprise...

well, all of their platforms were modular even before, but this TNGA will go into 30+ models with much more part sharing than before.

However RWD platform wont be called TNGA, TNGA is for their medium vehicles like Corolla, Prius, Rav4, etc. They already said that they will introduce large vehicle platform, RWD platform and small vehicle platform similar to TNGA, until 2020.

"A turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 with 550 horsepower will be under the hood of the LC500. That engine will be paired with a 10-speed automatic and enable a 0-62 time of 4.5 seconds. The LC500h will be powered by a 400-horsepower combination of a 3.5-liter V6 and electric motors. Sixty-two miles per hour will come up in 5.5 seconds."

Am I missing something? That's awfully slow.....

Seems slow, especially for a car that most likely will be priced well over $100,000

Perhaps the h will have some stellar (for its class) efficiency or a nice full EV mode (more range, more speed than current GSh say)

AMG GT-S is 503 hp.

583 hp was from the AMG SLS GT, that was $225k, a whole other league.

The other bad news is that it will only be available in China, not North America.

Well, my complaints of Lexus not boosting their engine certainly has been quashed if this is the near final. I'd love a newer convertible. However it's 80-90k? We'll see.
