Almost mistook that as the RCF but corrected that mistake after a second look. Shame on me.

lol... thats pretty funny. Lexus does not have to compete with i8, but BMW does have to compete with LC and various different MB coupes that they never had answer to. Maybe one day, they currently preffer to spend money on new FWD platforms and 3cyl engines.

Keep expectations low or prepare for disappointment.

Absolutely. Get ready for your 2020 GS500h now with even bigger price spread of $15,000 in comparison to GS300t. And you would still need F-Sport or Luxury package on top of that.

Current
GS350 base $50,000
GS450h base $63,080
$13,080 difference

Possibility
GS500h base $65,000***

If the new powertrain is 450+hp, hybrid awd, and has a more powerful EV mode, I can see them being built at around $80,000 and being far more enticing than the special order only GS450h.

Let's see what they can do. It's exciting to be on the cusp of a new generation of Lexus powertrains again

A 450hp GS500h would be too close to the GS-F. If anything a GS500h would be around 350-400hp

Possibly due to fuel economy sure. The 3.5L V6 hybrid setup in the LC500h is rumored to be north of 450hp, so whether Lexus decides to implement it elsewhere in the line and tune it differently is also an option. The current 5.0L V8 is a placeholder for future F powertrains and will serve as the base engine for the higher end models (LS500 and LC500 so far), all the while when some TTV8 finally comes to fruition it should be nearer the 600hp realm. Oh course Lexus will need to push performance luxury hybrids (like the LC500h) harder this time around, the GSh and LSh were neglected quickly . Regardless, 2016 should prove to be another great year for Lexus

nobody is going to buy that... in US, people wont pay for the difference and in Europe it is too much.

It is better for them to work on same GS450h and make it cheaper.

As to the US, simply GS500. or twin turbo V6.

Gas is becoming so cheap people dont care about 22 vs 28 MPG difference.

I'd have to get CPO

As to the LC500h vs LC500 price tag, I really hope the 'hybrid premium' is not out of control or it'll be another like the LSh

it will likely be out of control and then purchased in parts of the world where MPG matters for tax reasons, like Europe. This is where LS600h and GS450h sell better than petrol versions (a lot).

But hey, lets hope. GS450h has two stage transmission thats really expensive to produce. Simpler system like in RX450h could do it good in countries it actually sells at.

Why they didnt make it e-AWD still befuddles me. Is it a space issue? Maybe in the GS, but the LS shouldnt have any space issues on the platform.

Rumors keep swirling that the LC500h will have an electric motor driving the front wheels. Wonder how similar it is to the LS600hL e-AWD?
