I would roll with a 2006 LS430 over:

06 s-class
06 a8
06 q45
06 7-series
06 range rover anything

Road trip to the east coast back west... take ur pick but the LS430 could do it several times imo.

Luxury brand yes... just treated as the step child cause we get better grades lol

Kia and Hyundai have recently introduced higher end, luxury cars (Kia Cadenza/K900; Hyundai Azera/Genesis/Equus). These cars are similarly equipped in all categories to the cars we immediately recognize as Luxury such as Lexus, Porsche, BMW, MB, Audi, Cadillac, Lincoln etc.

The real question is: Is any car a luxury car or brand because it has what we typically associate with a luxury car or is it more than that?

--In my opinion, its more than just being able to provide the "feel" or options --I want my entire experience to be high end from the car itself, to service, to dealing with sales and everything in between...

I've always felt that Lexus and the family of dealerships does a great job with all areas and doesn't just excel in giving you a luxury car but gives a total luxury experience.

My definition is different: For me, when you create a luxury experience surrounding the luxury vehicle, then i feel like i've got a luxury car

i think any car that can make 130 feel like 30, has leather this thick, electrically adjustable EVERYTHING, took this long and cost this much to develop with a kickass V8, rwd, and a ride like a cloud is certainly a "luxury" car

toyota has been making the century for like 50 years now and thats as luxurious a car as you'll find, it's quite literally fit for an emperor

i love my Lexus, but i still consider it a notch below BMW or MB. I only switched over to Lexus because i got tired of German reliability reputations. I was always on edge waiting for something to break when i had an MB. Well, that and Lexus finally made a product that wasn't so boring, a la 4GS and 3IS.

I've heard Lexus has no heritage. Being that the brand hasn't been around that long.

Why are you so concerned about what other people think?

Same thing could be said about Tesla. So do you think Tesla isn't a luxury brand since it hasn't been around that long?

So what are your thoughts, is Lexus a luxury brand?
I've seen on BMW forums where people claim that BMW isn't a luxury brand, so I wouldn't necessarily put a lot of stock in random posts on the internet.

If Lexus wasn't a luxury brand, car mags wouldn't include Lexus vehicles in comparisons with MBs, BMWs, Audis, Jags, or whatever they are testing. And in the long run, Lexus wouldn't be able to charge comparable prices as those other "luxury" brands.

Some people will say pretty much anything to prove a point. Loud and wrong....

I think a better discussion would be whether Lexus is a Tier 1 or Tier 2 luxury automaker. There's valid opinions on both sides of that.

Overkill, as the cops would call it.

For most people, Luxury is something that they look up in AWE and Respect.
With MB, it is the history of being the first in many areas (innovator)
With BMW, it is the first of being the first in setting the standards for a vehicle that everyone can drive to the limit without getting scared - the ultimate driving machine.
With Porsche, it is the the car that beats everyone on the track.
With Ferrari, it is the car that won most of, if not all of, the races.

That is what is missing with Lexus.
Nothing more. For your dollar, it is as good or even better then the others in its price class, but that historical piece of claiming we are the the first in - __________ is missing.

Sounds like marketing hype.
