Thoughts on Audi S3
Thanks again everyone. See the comment on how expensive maintenance could be worries me plus I feel the reliability is a no brainer with the Lexus. Maybe instead of the IS, I'll check out the GS too or even the RC. I definitely don't want to spend a lot on maintenance which is why I'm not even considering a BMW.
I'm worried about long term reliability. I've read you should only lease Audi's, not buy them. My other option I was looking at is the Lexus IS AWD. Looking for a fun, luxurious AWD car and these 2 seem to fit the bill.

Maintenance on the S3 will consist of $120 oil changes every 10K miles....or less if you pay for the maintenance up front like you do on BMW. Other than air and cabin filters that's about it. oh, Spark Plugs every 35-40K miles...very easy to do yourself.
If you're talking about reliability - Audi has been great lately.

Maintenance is more costly than Lexus, but it's not considerable. If you purchase Audi Care, or negotiate into your deal, then most of your maintenance is covered.
The A3 and the IS are both nice cars, you can't go wrong with either one.

BMW is the least to maintain since they are one of few offer free maint. for first 4 years or 40k miles. I didn't spend a cent for my 750i for the 2 and half years of ownership.
S3 would be my pic. Speed, efficiency, and improved reliability all make the package attractive. Also a very handsome body too. Right now L.A. dealers are offering S3's well below invoice, so opportunity is there.
About the only thing you give up with the Audi is a luxurious interior. It is a bit plain inside. But then again I feel the latest IS is also lacking in luxury, with it's more sporting dash and console. Really depends on what your priorities are.
