i've got it but it's misleading because your example average says 100 cars have 100 problems, which is an average per car of ONE problem per car. so if tesla has 145 problems for 100 cars, that's still only an average of 1.45 problems per car. is that really 45% worse? well maybe mathematically, but it's pretty meaningless because a) different problems aren't equal, and b) reporting is subjective, and c) different cars have different levels of equipment.

the report graph is misleading and exaggerates the real world differences.

if i could choose between a lexus ls with 1 problem, and an s-class with 2 problems (gee, that's 100% worse!), i'd take the s-class.

having said all that, we all know (nothing new here) that lexus makes TREMENDOUSLY RELIABLE vehicles with VERY few problems, and must always be congratulated for that (assuming they keep it up).

can someone please tell me what "FCA" stands for?
Not that we’re gloating, but the bottom five brands on the 2015 reliability list are Infiniti, Cadillac, Ram, Jeep, and FIAT (aka Fix It Again Tony). Not a very strong showing for the FCA brands at all.
Is that even a common acronym? Means nothing to me.
Thx

Edit:
Sorry, thought this thread was started after the article was posted, but maybe not. Got that quote from

Data is certainly not meaningless, but of course it is just data, people can ignore it - it is just one of the things taken into consideration. However, this is probably the largest survey in the world so it is done very well, and representative sample is much larger than required.

I think all of us know people that had a lot of issues with their vehicles, so I would not relativize issues... cars are far from trouble free, even Lexus vehicles.

When it comes to S class, even the die hard fans will tell you they lease it to avoid any ownership costs after warranty expires. Not so much with LS for instance.

Of course, I would rather get Tesla over Prius c, all things considered - even if Tesla breaks 7x more. BUT, would I want to own Tesla after 4yr warranty is out? After this, certainly not.

As usual, I'll take you at your word. But, don't forget that many people SAY exactly that (that they would rather have vehicle X, with more problems, than vehicle Y with fewer ones)....UNTIL they're actually stuck with the inconvenience (and sometimes cost) of actually dealing with those problems.
