Lexus: Made in America. That's probably something you're not used to hearing, but as of today -- thanks to the ES 350 rolling off the assembly line in Georgetown, Kentucky -- it's true.
As I'm sure they'll prove to be built well. I wouldn't want to be a "Guinea Pig". If I was currently in the market, I'd get one that's on the lots now!

I have no doubt that Kentucky plant will win as many production awards in the future as TMMC plant that produces RX in Canada.
Full confidence in the US assembly. It's who's behind the company that matters.
True, and I have confidence in Lexus as a company which puts so much value in reliability and quality. However, the MB plant in alabama has been a trouble child since its inception with the M class in the early 2000s. The newest C class which got switched to this plant is also experiencing an abnormally high number of quality control issues. Thankfully, the ES is not an entirely new model.

To be clear, TMC execs are on the record as having stated they have never been concerned about the assembly line - rather, the concern is not having the huge number of reliable supply chains that they have in Japan. This was the same concern they expressed before opening the RX factory in Canada.
Certainly, the $146 million in tax breaks offered by Kentucky probably helped assuage many of these concerns.
I dont care, as long as I can find my Lexus built in Japan.
The US built Toyota/Lexus is reliable but its will not be as reliable as the one made in Japan. It's not the machine or design.....its the worker that makes the different. Their craftsmanship & work ethic is just higher.
All of the car I purchased are made in Japan & they are built really well. The difference in quality is clear when I compare them to our two Toyota Sienna that are built in the US.

I'm with you on this one. If i'm going to buy a luxury make, I want mine to be made from the motherland, be it Japan or Germany. That said, my wife's canadian built RX350 isn't so bad.
