2016 Lexus RX
yep... this has everything it needs to become a hit... if old one sold so much, this will do a lot better, especially outside the USA. RX was always best selling Lexus worldwide but this time around it has not only the utility but the looks both inside and out.
Oddly enough, it's Lexus enthusiasts that hate it the most.
It seems that this new design language is too radical compared to Lexus' short heritage of understated L-Finesse.
I recall many posts about how the sides of most Lexus are uninspired slabs of soft curves. Lexus adds some edge, and ClubLexus is having a breakdown...
I would concur.

LexusEnthusiast had great post about all the options:

Lots of great info there like ultra-wide color HUD being 9.4" wide, which is pretty damn huge. Or the pano roof behaving like moonroof at the front, climate concierge from the LS, rear seating position and space similar to LS, g-sensor and torque distribution sensor at front instrument panel, F-Sport having 8" LCD panel for instruments, etc, etc.

Customize settings is very useful and was sorely missed before as every Lexus driver knows... now you can have Eco climate, and normal transmission setting together with sport suspension.

Why are there two types of taillights? One is missing LED on the break light which is kind of the most important place to implement LED due to response time. Even Lexus said that when IS debuted with LED treatment.
i've not had an issue with the looks of any gen rx. the current design is very cohesive, modern, and elegant.
Looks better. Nice job on this one. That front end (before your photoshop) looks like some Neanderthal with an overbite.
This looks like a vehicle you'd take to a rave party not a night out in town at an elegant restaurant. It's certainly speaking to a younger crowd for the MOST part.
The challenge I see Lexus having is it's trying to play a one trick pony in a game with Mustangs. In doing so they've alienated many. Lexus has a Land cruiser RX & now NX.
Take Mercedes which has a smooth sided suv GLA coupe. Want jagged edges? GLK suv. Want boxy? G class. Something that's a rounded box? GLE suv. You get the idea. To make both suv the NX & RX so similar you've just tossed a huge portion of potential buyers. Why? You could have had the best of both worlds and built on expanding a versatile lineup. Instead they've taken the metaphor "cutting edge" to mean slap it everywhere.

yeah, to me that looks like oversized hatchback without any character except for the front grille that they added for 2012-2013... not to mention the interior which was really not great.
In any case, you dont seem in the rush to purchase Lexus, while it will certainly be my next vehicle, so they are doing a good job in catering to their demographics

back to the new one - i think the exterior design features of any model are always most visible on a white one and lexus seems to use white a lot (i can't stand white on most vehicles). it will probably look better (more subdued) in a dark color although the proboscis will always be an issue.
Anyone else disappointed by the acceleration? I'm not expecting to drag race but a 0-60 time of 7.9 seems awfully slow. Someone in the RX forum said they believed this was the time for the rx200t model but all the reviews posted show that time belonging to the rx350.
after watching alex on autos review i'm impressed with the interior - very nice.
funny to me how similar it is in many ways to my jeep. both 8 speed 295HP V6 drivetrains, and steering wheel controls are very similar. my jeep doesn't have a cd player standard which i prefer. i don't care for the rx black cladding over the wheels, which grand cherokees also have except for top trims. i wouldn't be surprised if lexus eventually offers the rx with body colored wheel arch trim.
funniest comment i saw on youtube...

The front end of this thing looks like something a Klingon would use to shave his ********.
