I think this thread has run its course, a lot of bull*****, misinformation, and people stuck in 1972 for the last page or two.
I've driven various year 911's(80's,90's,00's and new ones), but never pushed them hard enough(they weren't my cars) to experience the "spooky lift throttle over-steer". On the old ones, if you drive them sensibly and don't push them to their limits(bad idea on a public road anyways), the handling is sublime. On the newer ones(like 1990's 996 and newer), I've read the reviews and they've completely eliminated the spooky oversteer. Part of that its due to better, stickier, wider tires, part of it is due to improved suspension design over the years.
