rijc, was wondering, why did you get a 2nd mid-size sport sedan?

and from your comments it seems like you really don't like the new bmw except for the add-on exhaust.

It replaced a 13 X5 with the optional third row package. Those third row seats were used 2-3 times only. So I decided I probably don't need third row seats as much as I thought I would. If I'm only going to get a 5 passenger vehicle I might as well get a fun to drive passenger car over a SUV. Better gas mileage and more driving enjoyment.

I like the BMW. Just not as much as the GS FSport in terms of driving. Between the 2... I think the GS is a better car. Not that the 5 is a bad car. It just doesn't drive as well as an E60 or GS. The reason I ultimately ended up with the 5 is because I was over miles on the X5 by a lot. Too many recent trips. I originally thought I would purchase the vehicle at lease end so I didn't worry about miles. But changed my mind when it developed an engine leak and the transmission had a 2nd and 3rd gear slip. BMW corporate gave my dealer the go ahead to wave the last 6 payments and over miles if I did it in conjunction with a lease or purchase. So I did.

My wife prefers the interior and tech (nav and input method) of Lexus over BMW so I actually considered a GS Luxury but Lexus couldn't figure out a way to take the vehicle without alot out of pocket given the way BMW sets their lease residuals, the remaining payments and miles. Had I gotten the GS Luxury, she would be driving it and I would stay in the GS FSport. Since this didn't happen, she drives the FSport for now. However, I do still get to drive it on the weekends when the family goes out.

*But not this weekend... I'm still in the loaner X3. Kinda good for me as in a way I'm getting a second car to eat up some of my miles. I've had the loaner almost as long as I've had the 5. By monday it will be equal.

Since we've finally squared the wife away on her new car, I'm finally able to look for a replacement for my ISF. I've looked long and hard at the 550i M but reliability scares me as I will be buying used. The GS FSport would fit the bill but I just know I'm gonna want a bit more oomph.

The 550i would be fun but the N63 engine and its issues just plain scare me.

The new CTS-V or the new C63.

Congrats on the car. I got rid of mine after 6 months because I just wasn't impressed overall with car. The F10 looks great and the engines have nice power.

if you are getting one used, i say stay away from the 550i. if you want something just faster than gs fsport (seriously the car isn't that fast), maybe just wait for used gsf (the real deal)?

Funny to see all this talk about condensation in the headlights. Even with manufacturers calling that out in the instruction manual people I've still seen people on forums report they've gone back to dealers demanding a "fix."

I'll be looking to get into a proper GS in a couple of years. Unfortunately, I can't wait that long.
