What are your alternatives to Lexus models?
My question then for you guys who don't like the current lexus:
Let's not go back to the old days since it's been well beaten up already and focus on what's current. What other car would you buy/lease instead (as your counterpart)? There's no right or wrong answer. It's what YOU would buy instead of the current lexus. I'll take one example: Don't like- Lexus ES Like - Chevy Impala |
Porsche Macan > Lexus RX
Planning on doing this switch in about two years. Size-wise, the Macan is probably better compared to the NX, and even then it easily wins with regards to performance and handling. Gets good ratings on dependability too. Will probably lease at first, as I am not sure the slightly smaller size will be OK for me, but it will be my daily driver and it will still have enough room for my three kids when I need it. |
Jeep Grand Cherokee over the Lexus RX, Macan from viperdoc is nicer for the smaller/nimbler size class
Range Rover over the LX570 X5 over the GX460 S-Class over the LS460 Hyundai Genesis over the GS350 BMW 4 Series over the RC350 S3 over the IS350 (not exact size/price lineup) |
None for me, because Lexus currently have no model that fits what I am looking for as my next new car purchase ......

Substantially more than 40K....the 5.0L Genesis, hands-down. The new Genesis, especially with the V8, has to be driven to be believed......it's THAT good. The Kia K900 and Hyundai Equus are excellent highway cruisers (if that is one's type of driving), and, because of relatively low demand, would probably sell at a steep discount, making either one a bargain. |
the current RX wasn't for me (not quiet enough, interior not nice enough, old 6 speed auto)
like - Jeep Grand Cherokee upper trims (i got the summit) rc350 looks rather bloated to me 4 series, a5/s5 - better looking imo lx570 looks ancient range rover is baller :p gx460 looks funky, difficult options packaging yukon denali, mercedes gl, audi q7, durango citadel, etc. all to me are more up to date |

which begs the question, what are you looking for? :p
i thought it was a high end sedan or coupe? So, it's a high end coupe or high power sports car that I am looking for(middle age crisis car :p) Lexus currently has none of these. |
Infiniti Q70 (FX35) in lieu of RX, More HP, better handling. Hard to lose in parking lots! ;)
|
Bought a S550 instead of the LS. Looking at a S Coupe in the future unless Lexus resurrects the SC soon.
|
If the Tesla 70D or 85D were out when I was shopping for the GS, I probably would've swung the extra cash. Even now deliveries aren't slated until mid year
|
None, my LS430 will last my entire life time, I just have to keep changing timing belts :D

Don't you get tired yet? :D
to me on the car specifically (without looking at price), none of the lexus models interest me except the lx570. 3/4 over IS/RC 5 over GS s over LS x5 over GX i can't comment on ES and RX since i don't remotely see myself in that segment now if price is also factored in, lexus gets a lot more attractive |
