I am tired of cars all together.

The only cars I am interested in now is a fully autonomous EV so I don't have to drive anymore, and an exotic screaming Italian spider for going to lunch on the beach on the weekend ;)

So, it's a high end coupe or high power sports car that I am looking for(middle age crisis car :p) Lexus currently has none of these.

The next gen SC (or whatever else they call it) may just be the car for you :)

Thank you to Paul for making this a separate thread.

This was merely a response to the other thread where if you're in lexus market or not since lots of people complained about the grille change, interior quality, stiffer suspension due to being more sporty...

One member said he'll pick the impala over the ES and that got me thinking.

to me on the car specifically (without looking at price), none of the lexus models interest me except the lx570.

3/4 over IS/RC
5 over GS
s over LS
x5 over GX

i can't comment on ES and RX since i don't remotely see myself in that segment

now if price is also factored in, lexus gets a lot more attractive

Price is a factor otherwise, what would you be getting instead?

This is the first time ever that the RX has my attention. I'm deciding between the the RX or the NX (most likely leaning towards the NX since I don't want to lug the extra size around for the rx-I have a van for that:D)

I don't have the need for an LX.

I don't like the current 5 and the current X5.

I don't like the new S but I'm not in the market for a flagship either.

And like Andrew mentioned before about a high power sports car....lexus is sure dragging their feet for the LC:D

They have trademarked LC500 and LC500h, what about a LC F pushing 600hp or more ? Heard no mention of that ... I don't really desire a LC with the same engine as the RC F ;)

And if it's LS based as rumoured , it's likely not going to be light weight ........

Didnt like the LS, bought a Tesla Model S instead. Before that, didnt like the RX, bought a GLK350 instead. Thought about selling my Supra for a new IS, but who am i kidding? Lol

The LC won't be light weight at $100k~$140k

They already made a light weight LFA at $400k ;)

Consumer Reports also did. They gave the Impala a much higher road-test score. (I've driven both the Impala and ES myself, and I agree). I can't remember the last time Consumer Reports thought so highly of a GM car....it's been a LONG time. Some people, though, say they don't like the Impala's awkward-looking dash.

AMG GT-S, $130K, 500+ hp, around 3500#, I don't see why Lexus can't make the LC similar to that at even lower price, or with even higher hp, IF they really want to ??;)

My alternative to my former '13 GS F Sport would have likely been an Audi A7, but I decided to go for a coupe. So, my alternative to the RC350 F Sport was an Audi A5. I just can't warm up to the "hey, look at me" styling of the RC. Also hoping the SC replacement comes along soon and is a bit more "refined" in the stylling department.:D

In CAR CHAT? There's no such thing. :D;)

I will chime in on this. I am wanting a Lexus GS350 (really an GSF but too expensive). What other cars to consider? Audi a6, Mercedes e530, Infinity q70, BWM 535I (maybe Hundia Genesis) are all in the same category. I am looking at an RLX acura which fits in between a GS and an ES in my opinion.
IF you are looking for a ES you would be looking at the acura RLX, Nissan Maxima, Toyota Avalon
If you are looking at an IS you would want an Acura TLX, BWM 3 series, Mercedes C class.
If you are looking at the LS you will look at Mercedes S class, BMW 740, Audi a8,
There is a bad ass audi S7 used at the dealership but I don't have $97K for it.

Actually, Acura muddled the marketing-comparison somewhat by combining the former TL and TSX into one new TLX model. Before, the ES would have competed directly with the TL, and the GS with the RL or RLX. The IS would have competed with the TSX. But now, with the TSX gone, the IS doesn't have a direct Acura competitor (it's somewhere between the ILX and TLX), and the ES probably more closely competes with the TLX. The GS, IMO, not the ES, remains the closest Lexus equivalent to the RLX.

price included, then i choose gs (that's why i have one).

Not quite a fan of the ISF so I got the Boss 302.

Even though Lexus are great cars, I feel that they are a bit overpriced. There are many cars I'd choose before purchasing a new Lexus. I'd even cross shop them with Toyota and other brands. Again, just my opinion.

ThomasGS4 04-14-15 03:59 AM

A Mercedes C400 is tempting, vs. even a new IS or GS. Still curvy and elegant, not to mention the gorgeous interior. I know the floating iPad styled navigation screen isn't for all parties, but I personally dig it.
